A RESOLUTION REQUESTING SENATOR ALBEN !7.BARKLEY, SENA'
A.B.CHANDLER AND REPRESENTATIVE NOBLE GREGORY TO URGE TIIE ADOPTIO]
OF LEGISLATION IN CONGRESS APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTII
OF A IiIG,HWAY OVER THE DAM LOCATED AT GILBERTSVILLE, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Highways of the State of Kentucl
has approved the construction of a hi7hway leading to the Kentucky
Dam at Gilbertsville, Kentucky, from both sides of the Tennessee
River at the site of the Kentucky Dam provided sufficient funds ar
appropriated by the Federal Government for the construction of a
roadway over said dam; and,
WHEREAS, the construction of a modern hi3hway with a crossing
over the Kentucky Dam according to the plans of the Commissioner o:
Highways would be of great advantage to the traveling public; and,
WHEREAS, the construction of the Kentucky Dam at Gilbertsvill<
has made possible a place of crossing the river at that point with
much less expense than would be required to be incurred by the
building of a highway river bridge;
N017 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED Bf THE BOARD OF COId1.1ISSLONERS
OF PHE CITY OF PADUCAjd, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That Senator Alben W. Barkley, Senator A. B. Chandler and
Representative Noble Gregory, be requested to urge the immediate
adoption of legislation appropriating funds for the coCistruction
of a roadway over and across the Kentucky Dam at Gilbertsville,
Kentucky, that the I:'ayor adviso each of them by letter concerning
the importance of the appropriation, transmitting with his letter
a copy of this Resolution, and that the ;'ayor also mail to T.S.
!Watkins, the Commissioner of Highways, a copy of this resolution.
SECTION 2.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
