L I V AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSIONERS IN THE CITY OF PA DUCi1H, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING TIIE li QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND COMPEMATION OF TIIE MEMBERS THEREOF. KENTUCKY. BE IT ORD'.INED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY OF PADUCAH, SECTION 1. That a Board of City Planing and Zoning Commissioners in and for the Gity of Paducah, Kentucky, be and the same is hereby created. This Board is to consist of the Mayor of said City and four other citizens of said City, these four other members to be appointed by the Mayor and the Chairman of the Board of Aldermen and the Chairman of the Board of 11 Councilmem, said appointments to be approved and ratified by the General Council. These four men together with the I.iayor shall constitute and compose the Board of City Planing and Zoning Commissioners, The members of said Board shall hold office for the periods of one, two, three and four years respectively from the date of their first appointment hereunder, and thereafter for a term of four years, and until their successors shall have been appointed and qualified. SECTION 2. Said Board is hereby authorized and directed to provide a it plan for the future growth and development Of said City; and in accordance therewith to divide said City into districts or zones for the purpose of defining and establishing, \s,o far as practicable, the territory or zones within which factories, foundaries and industrial plants shall be located; also railroads and electric lines, terminals, stations, shops and yards; also zones for 'exclusive residential sections and residential sections and residential sections with business houses, stores and shops; and also shall provide for the location of parks, play grounds and other public places; to the end that the growth and development of said City may be regulated and controlled along lines that will best preserve and promote the health, comfort, convenience and general welfare of the citizens of said City. SECTION 3. 1 To aid said Board in the proper discharge of its duties it is authorized, after first obtaining the consent and approval of the General Council, to employ an expert consulting engineer to make a canvas i and survey of said City and the territory adjacent thereto, and to plan and zone the same in accordance with the provisions of Section 2 hereof. SECTION 4. The compensation of the members of said Board shall be $1.00 per year. This ordinance shall take effect and be In force from its passage, approval and publication. 'J
