HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 8, Page 28, No Ordinance NumberOrdinagnces AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE BUSINESS OF ITINERANT MERCHANTS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; FIKING A LICEISSE TEREFOR AND A PEN- ALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION I. That any person, firm, company or corporation that shall temporarily engage in the business of disposking of goods wares, or merchandise of any kind, by retail or at auction or other - :vise, in the city of Paducah, Ky., shall first be required to obtain a license therefor as Itinerant I,ierchant, from said city. SECTION 2. Any person, firm, company or corporation dispos- ing of goods, mares or merchandise of any kind, in said City, for a period of less than twelve months, and without having intended, in good faith, to conduct such business permanently in said City, shall be deemed to have conducted same temporarily, and be liable for said license tax, and to a penalty .for having done business without license. SECTION 3. A license tax of 0400.00 per year is hereby fixed, established, imposed and levied on the business of Itinerant Merchant, as hereinbefore defined, in the city of Paducah, Kentucky And any person, firm, company or corporation that shall engage in such business shall first procure the license aforesaid from said city; and said license shall not be granted for less than one year. SECTION 4. Every person, firm, company or corporation violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of mis- demeanor, and subject to a fine of not less than 125.00 nor more than X50.00 for each offense; and each day so engaged shall con- stitute a separate offense. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in force after its pas- sage, approval and publication; and all ordinances or parts of or- dinances in conflict herewith are to, the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
