GANG BOSS, DEFINING HIS DUTIES, FIXING HIS SALARY
AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT THEREOF.
BE ST ORDAINED by the General Council of the City of Paducah, Kentucky:'
SECTION 1.
There is hereby created the office of Chain Gang Boss, whose
duties shall be to have charge and control of the City prisoners when
they are being worked on the streets or other thoroughfares of the City;
and to do such other work or services as may be required of him by the
Chief of Police when prisoners are not being so worked on the.streets
or thoroughfares of the City. Said Chain Gang Boss shall before enter-
ing upon his duties execute a bond as a patrolman or police officer,
and take the oath required of police officers, and have the same quali-
fications as other patrolmen. He shall be paid a salary in the same
amount as other patrolmen.
SECTION 2.
While working prisoners on the streets and thoroughfares of
the City, the Chain Gang Boss shall be under the direction of the Board
of Public ',lorks; but ti'ien not so engaged, he shall be under the
direction of the Chief of Police. The salary of the Chain Gang Boss
shall be paid as other salaries, but one half of same shall be charged
to the Street Department, and the other half shall be charged to the
Police Department.
SEuTION 3.
All ordinance in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTTION 4.
This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval
and publication.
