HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 8, Page 218, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PAXTON AVENUE FROM THE WEST CURB LINE OF BLOOM AVENUE TO THE ViEST PROPERTY LINE OF ALEXANDER AVENUE, BY THE GRADING AND GRAVELING OF SAME, TOGETII'ER "WITH' ALL NECESSARY MANHOLES, INTAKES, CATCH BASINS, DRAIN PIPES ARID SEI9ER PIPE CONNECTIONS, IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, IN ACCORDANCE i7ITH THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FURNISHED THEREFOR BY THE CITY ENGINEER OF SAID. CITY, AT THE COST OF THE ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS, AND PROVIDING THAT SUCH COST MAY BE PAID FOR UNDER THE 10 YEAR PAYMENT PLAN. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. SECTION 1. That Paxton Avenue from the west curb line of Bloom Avenue to the west property line of Alexander Avenue be improved by the grading and graveling of same, together with all necessary manholes, intakes, catch basins, drain pipes and sewer pipe connections, in accor- dance with the plans and specifications prepared therefor by the Engineer of said City, which plans and specifications are now referred to and made part hereof as if specifically set forth herein, and will appear on file, in the office of said City Engineer. SECTION 2. Said construction shall be made under the direction and supervision of the City Engineer and Board of Public Works of said City, and the said City Engineer is hereby directed to provide in the plans and specifications that the dirt and gravel to be removed from sa d street shall be reserved by said City, and the contractor will be required to remove same to such point and places as may be designed by the Board of Public ;Iorks, provided 'that no additional charge will be made by said contractor for such removal. Said construction shall be commenced at the time designated by contract for the performance of same, and completed on or before the 10th day of December 1924. SECTION 3. iThe cost of said construction shall be paid for wholly i by the proper t)t owners abutting or fronting thereon, to be apportioned i to and assessed against the property abutting thereon, according to the number of abutting feet, except that portion to be paid for by the City of_Paducah as required by law. I, SECTION 4. The contractor awarded the contract for the improvement herein provided, shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of Sections 3096, 3100, 3101 and 3102 of the Kentucky Statutes. a SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute any and all written contracts and to accept such bond as may be required of the successful bidder for the construction of said improvement. SECTION 6. �j The bids shall be received for the construction of said I, street, in accordance with the plans and specifications made and provided therefor by the Engineer of said City, and the contract therefor shall be awarded to the lowest and best bidder, except the right is expressly reserved to reject any and all bids within li the discretion of the General Council and said General Council may accept any bids which it deems for the best interest of said City. SECTION 7. The Board of Public Clorks of said City is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the construdtion i of said improvement, which bids said Board is directed to report to i the General Council with its recommendation for the acceptance of an of same or the rejection of all of same.
