Be it ordained by the General Council of the City of Tadu cah , Kentucky: Section 1. _hat pursuant to erection 3125 of the hertucky Statutes, which is a part of the charter of cities of the second class, there is hereby created and established a 3oard of rublic ,corks in the City of Iaducah, I=entuc1-- Said Board shall consist of three members, who shall be appointed by the Myer, subject to the approval of the Board of Aldermen, for a term of two years; and who shall be subject to removal from office by the I.'ayor upon the arproval of said Board of Aldermen. Section 2. The duties and powers of said Board shall he the same as prescribed in said chaster as the duties of the Super- intendent of lublic Norks, art such other duties as mal hereafter be provided by ordinance of said City. erection 3. _hat the Board of public 'corks are hereby authorized and empowered to employ such hands and laborers and to use and employ such trucks, wagons and vehicles as may be necessary for the doing of the work intrusted to said Board. r-nd said Board of Public '7orks may recommend for appointment by the den.eral Council a Superintendent of Streets and also a Clerk o`L Bookkeeper for said Board. Section 4. Said Street Superir,terder.t shall have charge of the clearirR, repairing and improving of all streets, avenues, alleys and public places; and the repairirg and upkeep or all bridges, wharves, culverts and receiving basins, drains and sewers, and an<<1 and all other thirys that may be required of him by said Board of Public dorks. Section 5. Said Board of Public is ',forks may recomrerd for ap- pointmer_t by the Cereral Council a Clerk or Bookkeerer whose duties will be to keep a proper and accurate account of all cork or imrrove- meats or expenditures done under the surervisjoy of said Board. Said account will show in proper form and marier the accounts extended for original improvements and construction, and the amount for repairs, superintendence anal other e_jerditures; to & any ar3 all other things required of him by said Board of rublio 4orks. Section 7. Said street Superir,terdent shall receive a sal.- ary of ;}1500.00 per year payable monthly as other salaries are paid, and said clerk or bookkeeper who is also to perform the duties of the clerk to the City r.aineer,and such services as may be required by said City :�rFzineer and the Board of Iublic .7orks, shall receive a sal- ary of •;1800.00 per year payable in monthly in:.tallments as other month- ly salaries are paid. Section 8. The number of hauls or laborers that ma;T be em- ployed by said Board shall be sufficient only to do the -iork neces- sary to be done under the supervision of said Board, and shall not exceed an average of fifteen trucks, .mons, carts or other vehicles and the number of hands that may be emplo;7ed b,- said Board shall not exceed ar, average of thirty, provided that this limitation shall not apply to Nork contracted for or Iaid b*, other parties, under the su- pervision of said Board. Said Board shall pay to such hands or la- borers 'Nages not to exceed 35pf per hour for common labor and 50� per hour for skilled labor. The schedule of wages to be fixed and es- tablished by said Board of Iublic .;orks as conditions may require, not to exceed the rates herein provided. Section 9.
