AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 FOR A TIME EXTENSION WITH JIM SMITH
CONTRACTING CO., INC., FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH'S 2002 STREET
RESURFACING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City approved Ordinance No. 2002-3-6485 to enter into a
contract with Jim Smith Contracting Co., Inc., in the amount of $1,761,225.50 for the City of
Paducah's 2002 Street Resurfacing Program and the completion date established was December
31, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 1 is required for an extension of time for
completion of the original contract by 59 days to February 28, 2003, due to coordination
scheduling with Paducah Power, bad weather and downtown events.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change
Order No. 1 with Jim Smith Contracting, Inc., for an extension of time for completion of the
original contract date of December 31, 2002 for the City of Paducah's 2002 Street Resurfacing
Program. Due to coordination scheduling with Paducah Power, bad weather and downtown
events the contract time extension necessary is in the amount of 59 days making the revised
�r completion date February 28, 2003.
SECTION 2. Due to the City of Paducah's Commission Meetings revised
schedule for recognition of the holidays and need for this ordinance to be adopted to extend the
contract time period prior to the expiration date of December 31, 2002, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall become effective immediately with one reading. .
