AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION FIFTEEN (15) OF nN ORDINnNCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING THE S,,LE OF MILK AND OTHER DAIRY PRODUCTS, AND REGULATING THE SANITARY CONDITION OF DAIRIES AND MILK DEPOTS AND THE CONDITION _ND USE OF UTENSILS, VEHICLES, ETC., USED IN HANDLING, MANUP-MURING OR SALE OF MILK OR DAIRY PRODUCTS IN THE CITY, OF P.ADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND REPEALING CERTAIN ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH", APPROVED BY JAISES P. SMITH, MAYOR, SEPTE1.1BER 1, 1911. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COLMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: - Section 1. That Section 15 of an Ordinance eng•itled "AII ORDINANCE GOVERNIIIG THE S_,= OF kIILK AND OTHER Dr,IRY PRODUCTS, AND REGULATING THE SANITARY CONDITION OF DAIRIES AND I,iILK DEPO-TS .ND THE CONDITION AND USE OF UTENSILS, V.-MICLES, ETC., USED IN HANDLING, T.r_NUF_zCTURING OR SALE OF I;IILK OR DAIRY PRODUCTS IN THE CITY OF PADUC-H, KENTUCKY,. AND REPEALING CERTAIN ORDINANCES OF Tti-E CITY OF PADUCAH", approved by James P. Smith, I,1ayor, September 1st, 1911, be, and the same is hereby amended by striking out the words "After the 1st of January, 1912, each cow, or cows, whose milk, cream or other dairy product is sold or offered for sale or brought into the City of Paducah for sale, shall be tested at least once each year in the manner herein provided", and adding in lieu thereof the following words, to -crit: It shall be unlawful for any dairyman, or' any person, firm, company or. corporation, to sell or offer for sale any milk, cream or other dairy products from any cows that have not withstood success- fully the tuberculin test. Said tuberculin test to be in charge of the Live Stock, Iaeat and Milk Inspector of the City of Paducah, and to be made by him according to the standards of the State Veterinarian of 'the S#ate of Kentucky. All cattle, both cows and 'Dulls, in any dairy herd, which have not heretofore successfully withstood the tuberculin test, shall be tested before any milk, cream or other dairy products from such herds are sold, or offered for sale, in the City of Paducah, and all cows or bulls added to any dairy herd, which have not success- , fully withstood the said tuberculin test, shall be first tested before - being added to said dairy herd - but that 'thereafter said cattle i-Lich have been tested in accordance with this Ordinance shall not be re- tested until 1917, except that where, in the judgment and opinion of the Live Stock, Ivieat and kiilk Inspector, any cow or bull shows any symptoms of tuberculosis or other illness, said cow or bull may be, at any time, subjected to the tuberculin test. Said Live Stock, Meat and 1,1ilk Inspector shall receive as compensation, in addition to the salary paid to him by the City of Paducah, the sum of Twenty-five (;?25.00) Dollars per month for testing such cattle, to be paid by the City oY 4 Ordinance No. le continued. Paducah - and if said cattle are tested at the hospital of the said Live Stock, Yeat and Milk- Inspector, then said additional salary shall be full compensation to him for his services, but if 'tested at other places than his hospital, then for such additional services he may charge a reasonable fee to the owner of such cattle. So that said Ordinance, when so amended,shall read as follows, to -wit: ,It shall be unlawful to sell or offer for sale any mil} cream or any other dal ry products from any cows purchased or otherwise acquired after the passage of this Ordinance, which cons have not with- stood successfully the tuberculin test. Upon and after the Lst of January, 1912, no milk, cream, buttermilk or sour milk will be allowed to be sold or offered for sale or brought into the City for sale, from any cow or cows, unless the owner of said cow or cows holds a certifi- cate of a veterinarian acceptable to the Board of Health of the City of Paducah, that said cow or cows are free from tuberculosis as shown by the tuberculin test. The veterinary certificate properly sworn to must show in detail the tuberculin test as made by him according to the standards of the State Veterinarian of the State of Yentu cky. It shall be unlawful for any dairyman"to sell or offer for sale any milk, cream or other dairy products from any cows that have not withstood successfully the tuberculin test.
