"To the Hon. i,Tayor & Commissioners.
The 176man's Hospital League has been delayed by ';Iar conditions in
sectu•ing the equipment for the Ewart Purcell Isolation Hospital. 'rie
have ordered iturniture for ten rooms, four wards and operation room;
most of this is here and all has been uncrated except some that came a
few days ago. Vie are working now on a plan for the mattress sterilizer
and diet kitchen equipment. As it is reported that there are a great
many children suffering from tre influenza and tnat -the heat can be
installed within a week or ten days, uae desire to say vie shall not wait
for the other furniture, but will present the nuilding, to the City, so
the little sufferers may have a place where the proper care can be given
them.
':7e do not desire to retain any authority in tine rinagement of the
Hospital, merely requesting that it be -used only for the purpose for
which it was erected- namely for those suffering with contagious diseases.
We small arrange all the rooms, have bed linens, blankets, et cetera
sent in, and as soon as the other articles arrive place them and the door
plates. ',,Then health conditions permit we r.ish to _have a public opening
so all may see the good work accomt)lished jointly by the City and The
Woman's Hospital League.
'.7e are pleased to have had a part in the erection and furnishing of
so needed an institution, and any time our Finances -permit we shall be.
pleasea to add,vtitn your consent , anything that vaill tend to make better
conditions for the patients; some of these we vrould have placed at ti -e
first had not the cost been so great.
