WHEREAS, it is entirely fitting and appropriate, and in fact is
owing to the boys of the City of Paducah and McCracken County who have
l)men inducted into the service of the United States army, that a suitable
permanent memorial should be erected both to the heroic living and time
immortal dead; and,
'THEREAS, it is the sense of this Board that plans be perfected
and arrangements made for the financing of this project in the near
-future; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY TIM BOARD OF C012,1ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
That this Board invite the co-operation of the County Judge,
the Fiscal Court, Rotary Club, Board of Trade, Manufacturers' Association,
Retail Iderchants Association, Liberty Loan Organization, McCracken County
Growers' Association, Central Labor Union, Retail Grocers Assn,
INholesale Grocers' Association, and any other civic organizations, and
all womens' organizations, together with t1n Ministerial Association
and all the churches of the City of Paducah, Kentucky and McCracken
County, and invite all such organizations to appoint committees to meet
with this Board on Tuesday, December 3d at two o'clock P. M., in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall, to consider ways and rm ans and plans
for the erection of such a memorial.
In this connection it is suggested that a permanent memorial
hall might be erected on the back of the Carnegie Library lot, which
might be used for a Convention Hall and Y. Y1. C. A. building, in which
a permanent roster of all men inducted into the service might be kept
for future historical reference. Such an institution is badly needed
in this city, and there is a great want for it, especially for the use
of conventions and as a Y. M. C. A. building.
