HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 7, Page 401, No Ordinance NumberNo. Ordinance No. - AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE PRESCRIBING `THE i:iANNM AND TI1,'E OF COLLECTION OF CITY TAXES, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. . !'MREAS, the Legislature of Kentucky passed an Act in the year 1918 changing the manner of collecting taxes and fixing• the time for the ` payment of same as of October lst in each year; and, !.'.HMEAS, the period for the collection of taxes for 1918 is so short that it will not permit of the collection of taxes for said year without working great injustice upon the tax payers; and, 1,I[HEREAS, the Statute provides that the Board of Commissioners may alter or clP.nge the manner and form of collecting said tares; nog., therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CO_,ISSIONRS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: Section 1. That all advalorem taxes shall be due and _oayable, without demand therefor, at the treasurer's office, one-half eacr- on the first day of June and the first day of November, for 1918, but the whole tax for the year may be paid on or after the first day of June for said year. Taxes not paid on or before November 25, 1918 shall be deemed delinquent and shall have added to them a penalty of ten (10'0) per centum of the amount thereof, and shall thereafter bear interest at the rate of one-half of one per cent for each month or fraction of a month until paid, or until the property of the delinquent has been sold for the tax, as provided by the Kentucky Statutes. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passa_•e, record and publication. Passed by the Board of Commissioners Oct. 29, 1918.
