HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 7, Page 390, No Ordinance NumberOrdinance No. F AN ORDINANCE AIliENDING SUBSECTIONS 1, 2, 3, 4 AND 5 OF SECTION THREE (3) OF ACJ ORDINANCE ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDII-TG FOR THE APPOINTIT-EEM OR RETENTION BY THE BOARD OF COIJUJISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, OF CERTAIN CITY OFFICERS, AGENTS, AND EGIPLOYEES OF TIE CITY OF PADUCAH , YENTUCYY, AND FIXING THEIR S LLA ,IDS, PO1,`MRS (dm DUTIES," PASSED BY TH1E BOARD OF CO-1,11ISSIOiTERS J_UTUARY 29, 1918. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Yentucky: Section I. That subsection 1 of section 3 of an ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance Providing for the Appointmeizt or Retention by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, of Certain City Officers, Agents, and :Employees of the City of Paducah, Yentucky, and Fixing Their Salaries, Powers and Duties," passed by the Board of Conn!issioners January 29, 1918, be and the same is hereby a:mea&ed by striking therefrom the follovdng words and figures: "Fifteen Hundred (;1500) Dollars per year," and- inserting ndinserting in lieu thereof: "Fifteen Hundred and Sixty (;.1560) Dollars per year," so that said subsection when so amended shall read as follows, to -wit: "CHIEF OF FIRE DEPART -2177. The Board of Commissioners shall appoint a Chief of the Fire Department, who shall receive a salary of Fifteen Hundred and Sixty (.;1560) dollars per year, payable in monthly installments, and as such, he shall be the executive head of the Fire Department of the City, subject to the orders and directions of the Commissioner of Public Safety. He shall also be the building inspector of the City, and perform such duties as are -requi-red of a building inspector by ordinance of the City of Paducah." Section II. That subsection 2 of section 3 of said ordinance be and the same is hereby amended by striking therefrom tic words and figures: "One Thousand ail& Twenty ('?1020) Dollars per year," and inserting in lieu thereof: "One Thousand and Eighty (;?1080) Dollars per ,year," so that said subsection when so ame-nded shall read as follows, to -wit: "CAPTAINS OF FIRE DEPARL:1ITT. The Board of Commissioners shall appoint four Captains of the four fire Departments of the City, at a' salary of One Thousand Eighty („;1080) Dollars per year, each, payable in monthly installments. Said Carotai.ns shall be assigned, respectively, by the Commissioner of Public Safety to the various departments of the City.” Section III. That subsection 3 of section 3 of said ordinance be and the same is hereby amended by striping therefrom the words and figures: "Seven Hundred and Eighty 0780) Dollars a year," and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "Eight Hundred and Forty (;;840) Dollars a year," so that said subsection when so amersLed shall read as follows, to-,vit: 40 k No. !- - Ordinance No._.__.____ "FIRE ALARM OPERATORS. The Board of Commissioners shall e:npoint two operators for the fire alarm system of the City, at a salary of Eight Hundred and Forty (5p840) dollars a year, each, payable in monthly installments. It shall be the duty of the said operators to attend to the operation of the fire alarm system, during such hours as the Commissioner of Public Safety may direct, and perform such other duties as may be required of them by the Commissioner of Public Safety or the Board of Commissioners." Section IV. That subsection 4 of said section 3 of said ordinance be and the same is hereby amended by striking therefrom the words and figures: "Eighty 0:780) Dollars, each, per month," and inserting in lieu thereof the folloydng: "Eighty-five (,r85) dollars, each, per month," so that said subsection when so amended shall read as follows, ,to -:tit: "FIRE12,1T. There shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners twenty-two (22) Firemen who shall receive a salary of Eighty --five N��85) Dollars, each, per month, and who shall be assigned to the various fire departments of the City of Paducah by the Commissioner of Public Safety. It shall be the duty o£ said firemen to attend and be at their post of duty such hours as may be prescribed by the Commissioner of Public Safety, or by any of their superior officers-- with the concurrence of the said Commissioner of Public Safety-- and'. to obey such orders, with respect to attending fires and attention to any other duties, as my be given to them by their superior officers. The Commissioner of Public Safety shall have, the authority to change, said firemen from one department to another, as he may see fit, and to change the hours in e,L ich said firemen are required to be on duty, from. time to time, as he shall see fit." Section V. That subsection 5 of section 3 of said ordinance be and the same is . hereby amended by striking therefrom the words andfigures: "One Hundred (:p100) Dollars per month," and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "One hundred and five (0105) dollars per month," so that said subsection when so amended shall read as follows, to -tit: "MOTOR 1:'ECH—PNIC. there shall be appointed by the Board of Com- missioners one expert T.-otor %!echanic, who shall be under the direction and supervision of the Commissioner of Public Safety, and who shall look after and keep in good nunning order all the motors of the City of Paduca,h in t -e several departments thereof, and shall perform such other duties as may be required of him by the Commissioner of Public Safety or the Board of Commissioners from time to time. He shall receive a salary of One Hundred and Five (!,105) Dollars per month." Section VI. All ordinances or parts of ordinances that conflict herevith are hereby repealed. Section VII.
