HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 7, Page 385, No Resolution Number------------- R,SOLUTIO, 11IHERE,AS, the construction of sidewalks, cirrrbs, and gutters in trio, section Of the City of Paducah hereinafter described, has disturbed the drainage to such an extent that it has become necessary to construct storm sewers to take care of this drainage; and, i',HERE'_S, the accumulation of mater in said section of town after rains is excessive and unusual; and, 'VIHERE'S, the Paducah U Illinois Railroad Company is contemplating the immediate construction of tracks in said section of the city, which will further congest the water in this area; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED .BY THE .BOARD OF CO:.=.`.ISSIONE_RS OE THE I CITY OF PADUCAH, =,TTUCXY: Section 1. That the building of a storm 'via -ter sewer to drain the section of the City of Paducah hereinafter bounded is a necessity. Section 2. That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby instructed .and authorized to construct storm water sewers and. intakes on the following streets, to -wit: Beginning at Eighth and Jones streets, extending dorm Eighth. street to Tennessee street, thence dorm Tennessee street to the river. Section 3. That the cost of construction of said sewer be paid for from the Special Sever Fund. Section 4. This Resolution to take effect ten days after its passage and record. That the contract to construct severs from Eighth and Jones' street to Tennessee, thence Boma Tennessee street to the River be awarded to J. Bell Gardner in conformity with his bid this day opened, it ai3pearin,,; that he was the lowest and best bidder on said Mork. . Section Ii. That said contract is awarded upon the condition that tie City of Paducah is prevented iron constructing said sever by litigation or otherwise, that all contracts respecting said vo-rl; are null and void. Section III. It is further provided that time shall be of the essence of the contract to build said sexier, and that same shall be finished within eight -.-reeks from the date of the signing of the contract. Section IV. ' That the _ayor be instructed -:nd authorized to enter into a. contract with said J. Bell. GarLner for the construction of said sexier in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor. Section V.
