BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF C01-11ISSIONERS UP ThE CITY OF Section I. That Subsection 2 of Section 2 of an ordinance entitled IIAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR. THE APPOLITLEl;T OR RETE11TION, BY --HE BOARD OF Coj.jj.,,IsSIOTjETjS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, OF CERTAIN CITY OFFICERS, AGENTS AND EMPLOYEES OF ME CITY OF PADUCAH, hENTUCRY, AND FIXIIIG THEIR SAT -ARIES, POIVERS 2�,TD DUTIES," passed by the Board of Com!:.issioners January 29, 1918, be and the same is hereby amended by strikinp-. out the words and fipures: "Nine Hundred and Sixty (el�,960.00) Dollars a year, each , '7 and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "Ten Hundred and Twenty (i�11020.00) Dollars a year, each" -so that said subsection when so amended shall read as follo-,s, to -wit: CAPTAINS OF FIRE The Board of Coru_�issionars shall appoint five Captains of the five Pire Departments of the city at a salary of Ten Hundred and Twenty (,A020-00) Dollars a year, each, payable in monthly installments. Said Captains shall be assigned, respectively, by the Commissioner of Public Safety to the various departments of the City. Section II. That Subsection 4 of Section 2 of said ordinance be and the same is hzreby amended by striling out the following words and figures: "Seventy-five (05-00) Dollars each, per month," and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "Eighty . (V80.00) Dollars each, per month" - so that said Subsection when so amended shall read as follows, to -wit: FIRE14124. There shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners twenty-sim (26) Fi ' rorren, who shall receive a salary of Eighty (,�80.00) Dollars each, per month, and who shall be assigned to the various fire departments of the City of Paducah by the Colm-n-issioner of Public Safety. It shall be the duty of said Fireman to attend and be at their post of duty during such hours as may be prescribed by the COMMiSsioner of -Publ ja Safety, or by any' of their superior officers- with the concurrence of said Commissioner of Public Safety- and to obey such orders, with respect to attending fires and attention to any other duties, as may be given to them by their superior officers. The Commissioner of Public Safety shall have the authority to change said Fireman from one Department to another, as he may see fit, and to change the hours in which said Fireman are required to be on duty, from time to time, as he shall see fit. Section III. That Subsection 7 of said ordinance be and the sarne IV Ordinance No.__...__ is hereby amended by striking out the following words and figures: "Eighty 0580.00) Dollars, each, per month," and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "Ninety (NI'P"90.00) Dollars, each, per month" -so that said Subsection when so amended shall read as follows, to -wit: i CAPTAINS OF POLICE. There shall be appointed by the Board of Com- missioners two Captains of Police, who shall be the ranking officers in the Police Department next to the Chief of Police, and shall receive a salary of Ninety (90.00) Dollars,' each, per month, and shall perform such duties as are required of them by the Chief of Police of the Commissioner of Public Safety. Section IV. That Subsection 11 of said ordinance be and the same is hereby amended by striking out the following words and figures: "Seventy- five ($75.00) Dollars, each, per month," and inserting in lieu thereof the. following words and figures: "Eighty 0`80.00) Dollars, each, per month" - so that said Subsection when so amended shall read as follows, to -wit: PATROLPJMT. There shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners twenty-six (26) Patrolmen, who shall receive a salary of Eighty (:80.00) Dollars, each, per month. It shall be the duty of said Patrolmen to act as police officers of the City of Paducah, and in that respect to perform such duties in connection with the Police Department as may be assigned to them, from time to time, by any of their ranking officers, and to be on duty during such hours as may be hereafter established by the Commissioner of Public Safety- and the Commissioner of Public Safety shall have the authority to change such hours or such duties, from time to time, as he may see fit. He shall further have the authority to create the office of Lieutenant of Police and Sergeant of Police, and such other subordinate offices of the police force as he may see fit, and assign any of the said patrolmen to the performance of the duty of Sergeant or Lieutenant, or to other subordi- nate offices as may be created, which may be prescribed by him. He shall further have the authority to assign as many of said .patrolmen to plain -clothes duty as he may see fit, from time to time. Said Commissioner of Public Safety shall further have the authority to reduce in rank any of the officers of the Police or. Fire Department of the city -provided, however, that his action in reducing any of said officers - 4 in rank shall be reported to the Board of Commissioners, for their con- currence or rejection, at the next regular meeting thereof. The Commissioner of Public Safety shall further have the authority to 00 prescribe, from time to time, the character and design of unifoimi to be worn by the uniform men of said Departments, and require each member of said Fire or Police Department, who are placed in uniform, to v, -ear the character and desio-n of uniform adopted by him. He shall further have the pourer to adopt such rules and regulations, and make such orders, from time to time, No, 2 G) Ordinance No. in the general management and government of the Police and Fire Depart— ment, and to prescribe the penalties or punishment to be imposed for disobedience of said orders, rules or regulations. Section V. All ordinances or parts of ordinances that conflict hererith are hereby repealed. Section VI.. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after March 1st, 1918.
