That Section 5 of an ordinance entitled, "aN ORDINnNCE DETEREINING, THE FUNCTIONS OF ThE D>,r,=.:1NTS OF PUBLIC tiFFiIRS, PUBLIC FINi-_=ICE, PUBLIC SrFETY, PUBLIC 1.02X5 ';.IID PUBLIC PROPERTY, di?D PRESCRIBIIIG THE DUTIES OF TEL C01.7.11ISSION ERS", passed by the Board of Commissioners January h, 1915, be, and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows, to -wit: Section 5. THE DEP RTIZI;T OF PUBLIC 17ORIS. The lollowinra branches of the public service are hereby assinned to the department of Public YJorks: 'll civil engineering done for, or in connection with, any work of the city, and all departments pertainingi to the public works and improvements, including the construction or re- construction of streets, public ways, sidewalks, servers, bridges, viaducts, conduits, or other public structures, except public buildings,, the cleaning of all streets, alleys and highways, and all repairs, main- tenance or upkeep of any of such property, the inspection of all work done or improvements made, either by order or under contract, the enforce- ment of all laws or ordinances relating to bill -boards or other unsightly V or objectionable or dancerous buildings, or structures, upon or adjacent to the streets or highways of the city*, and all officers, agents or employees of the city connected with the aforesaid department, or any work being done under the supervision of said department shall be under the direction and supervision of said Commissioner of Public ',00rks. He shall have charge and control of the city street liPhting plant and department, and all employees thereof. He shall make monthly reports to the Board of Commissioners on the state of his department, and such special report concerning the execution, completion and inspection of public v:orks as the Board of Commissioners may require. „11 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. :vection 3.
