City Hospital and Steward. 431 City Hospital and Steward. i.—The buiding . situated on Fifth street, adjoining Mat- Hospital site tisons Garden shall b: known as the city hospital of Padu- cah and be used as such. 2.—The common council of the City of Paducah, shall in the month of December, 1893, or as soon thereafter as possible, and biennially thereafter, elect a steward of the city hospital for the term of two years, until his successor is duly elected and qualified, or until his removal for cause by the council. 3.—It shall be the duty of the steward of the city hos- pital to furnish the hospital with fuel, beds, bedding, cook- ing utensils, tableware, furniture, and any and all other ar- ticles except medicines necessary to carry on said hospital for the comfort of the inmates. 4.—The steward of the city hospital shall not receive any patient into said hospital except on the written order of the mayor and city physician. He shall be under tht control of the city physician in all matters touching the control of said hospital and the comfort of the patients, hygienically and otherwise, and shall administer or cause to be administered properly to the patients, all medicines, ac cording to the direction of said physician. Time vatlents 8.—Persons shall cot be allowed to remain in said hos- pital at the expense of the City longer than one 'month; and in all such cases, within ten days after such persons enter the hospital it shall be the duty of the city physician to notify in writing the City Council of Paducah that such persons are in the hospital, and when their time will be up, and the nature of their disease. City Hospital and Steward. An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 12, of the Re- vised Ordinance of the City of Paducah, Titled City Hos- pital, and Steward and Defining Compensation. Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Paducah. salary axed Sectioh 1. That Sec. 5. of an ordinance Numbered 12 of the revised ordinances of the City of Paducah, entitled City hospital and steward be, and the same is hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof there shall be substituted by way of amendment the following, Viz: The steward of said hos- pital shall receive for serv:ces as such $3.00 per week for . all adults, and $1.50 per week for each child between the ages of one year and twelve years of age, children over 12 shall be paid for by the City at the same price paid for adults, but no fee will be paid for children under 12 months of age.—Provided, however, that such infant has no mother then in such cases the steward shall receive the same fees for its care that is stipulated, for children over one year and under 12 years of;agm.t ,-t Sec. 2. It shall be unlawful for any -person toper - mit stagnant water, excrement, carcasses of dead animals Dead anlinals or filth of any kind to be thrown upon or remain on any lot or premises belonging to such person or under his control or in his occupation, or to allow any exposed pits, or to open any pits and let them remain exposed, so as to endanger ODeaolts the life, health, or well being of the citizeni in .any portion of the City of Paducah. Sec. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to throw Throwing or or deposit, or suffer to escape,. by drainage or otherwise, drnlning filth upon the lot or premises of another, or upon the streets, alleys, gutters, pavements or other rublic places in the city, any dirt, filth, excrement, or feculant or noisome substance. Sec. 3. It shall . be unlawful for any person within the cossixx,ix or limits of the city of Paducah to construct, dig or build any wens cesspool, privy vault or well for the purpose of receiving slop, garbage, nigbtsoil, or other offal or filth. Sec. 4. It shall be enlawful for any person to dig a pit aravel pt to anywhere in the City of Paducah for the purpose of tak- ing gravel therefrom, or to retnove any gravel front any pit now open in the city. t Sec. S. Whoever violates the provisions of the first or penalties second section of this ordinance shall be fined not less than $5 nor more than $loo for each offense, and whoever vio- lates the provisions of section 3 or section 4 of this ordi- nance shall be fined not less than $2o nor more than $5o for . each offense.
