standotpe Section 1. On the platform or stage and in the main
u e atatned hall, of all public halls, theaters or concert rooms, of the
City of Paducah there shall be erected and maintained in
good working order one t 1-2 inch, stand pipe, which shall
be connected directly with the water supply pipe in the
adjacent street or alley. Attached and connected to said
stand pipe shall be a coil of hose not less than fifty feet
long together with a nozzle of suitable size. Said hose shall
be 1 1-2 inches in diameter, and of the best quality.

less than three feet wide and ttn feet long with a railing two
feet and ten inches in height. The stairway between the'
balconies shall be two feet wide. '
Sec. q.' In all public theaters and concert rooms in Alelee to be

places of egress shall, at all times be entirely open and un-
-ibstructed; and any police officer of the city shall have full
power. and authority to cause the removal of any obitruc-
tion whatever that would, in 'his judgment, in any manner
-jeopardize the lives of people in endeavoring to escape from
such building in case or fire, panic or other cause.
Sec. S. Any failure or neglect on the part of any per- penalty
son, copartnership or corporation to comply with the re-
quirements of the foregoing sections shall be deemed a mis-
demeanor, and the person, copartnership or corporation
guilty thereof shall on conviction be fined not less than $50

poration shall fail or neglect to comply therewith.

between brick walls not less than thirteen inches thick, laid
in pure cement morar, and to be made perfectly fireproof
on the under side thereof, so as to resist the heat in cast of

city engineer in so fat as concerns the safety of the lives
of persons visiting the same, and in compliance with this
ordinance.
Certlaente Sec. 7. Before the council clerk shall issue a license
reauteed for any theater or place of public amusement or exhibition of
any kind in the city of Paducah (except where the same
shall be held in tents or on unimproved property) he shall
require the person applying therefor to file in his office a
certificate from the city engineer of Paducah stating that the
provisions of this ordinance have been complied with in all
its requirements.

Sec. 8. Any manager, lessee, owner or keeper of any
theater, public hall or place of amusement carrying on the
business of theatricals or keeping a place of amusement of
any kind liable to pay a license under any ordinance of the
City of Paducah, who shall carry on such business without
first having furnished said certificate and obtained such
license, shall be deemed guilty of a misdomeanor, and on
conviction thereof shall be fined not less than $to nor more
than $50 for each offense, and each show or exhibition of
any kind is hereby declared to be a distinct offense.

City of Paducah of three stories or more in height to. pro-
vide, within three months, permanent iron balconies, with
steps leading from one balcony to another, as provided in
section 3 of this ordinance for opera houses, etc., such bal-
conies to be located at the end of all hallways, and the
dimensions of such balconies to be the same as provided for
in section 3 of this ordinance.

lessee or keeper thereof shall constantly employ and keep

whose duty it shall be to keep watch and guard against
fire, and to give warning in case fire should break out, such
watchman shall be on duty from 6 o'clock p, in. to 9 o'clock
a. in. of each day in the year. In addition to previous re-
quirements, there shall be in such houses or buildings iron
ladders of suitable strength at the ends of all corridors
and other places where it may be impossible to put a reg-
ular fire escape. There shall also be coils of rope from
a reasonable number of rooms, to be securely fastened on
the inside of the windows, utnde so that they nuty he easily
thrown from the windows when necessity may require.
Sec, tt. All hotels, public boarding or lodging houses, T"atairwave
hereafter built or reconstructed in the City of Paducah over for otele
two stories in height shall be so constructed that there
shall be at least two stairways for the use of guests not
less than eight feet high, leading from the ground floor to
the uppermost story of the building; and no permit shall
be issued for the erection of any such building until com-
plete architectural drawing showing a proper compliance
with this section has been filed with the city engineer, whose
duty it shall be to see that this section is literally com-
pl'ed with
Sec. 12. Any violation of.any provisions of this ordi- Penalty

Additional Duties of Health Officer.
"An Ordinance Defining the Duties, in Part, of the
Office of the Health Officer of the City,"
Whereas:—The Statutes empower the Common Council
by ordinance, to create a Board of Health for the City and
vest it with powers and duties, and thereby also creating
the office of Health Officer, and Whereas: said Health
Officer's duties are only partially defined by existing ordi-
nances, and whereas: the Statutes make the Htalth Officer,
