An Ordinance Supplimentary to an Ordinance No. 32
Entitled Numbering Houses.
Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Paducah,

Section 1. That the numbering of lots or houses in

Sec. 2. The City Engineer shall furnish the numbers

Junk and'Second-Hand Dealers,
An Ordinance Regulating Junk and Second hand Deal-
ers in the City of Paducah.
Whereas, much complaint is continually being made
about stolen property having been disposed of to the junk
dealers and second hand dealers in the City of Paducah; and
whereas, it is sometimes difficult for the police force to find
stolen property which has been sold to such dealers, and
difficult to apprehend the offender of the law without the ,
friendly aid and the assistance of Euch dealers; and where

as it is optionary; as the law now exists, with such junk deal-
ers and second hand dealers, as to whether or not they ren-
der such friendly aid and assistance to said police officers,
therefore, be it ordained by the Common Council of the
City of Paducah.

• Section r. That any second hand dealer, junk dealer, or

other person who purchases, . sells, exchanges, or receives
second hand furniture, or second hand *articles of any kind,
shall keep in a conspicious place in or upon his shop, store
or place of business, a sign having his name or occupation
inscribed thereon, and shall keep in his place of business a'

separate book open to inspection by any member of the
police force, in which shall be written iq plain legible hand
writing and in the English language, at the time of every
purchase or exchange of any of the articles purchased, and
the description thereof, and the price paid therefor, the
-name, description and residence of the person from whom
purchased and received, and the day and hour when purchase
flow entries
or exchange was made. Each entry shall be numbered
made
consecutively, commencing with number one, and any and
all of such articles so purchased or exchanged shall be
retained by the . purchaser for at least fifteen days
before disposing of the same and kept in an accessible
place of his place of business, where such articles were
purchased or received, and a tag shall be attached to such
articles in some visible and convenient place, with the
number written thereon corresponding to the entry on the
book.

Sec. 2. Be i' further ordained. That no such junk
dealer, or second band dealer• shall directly or indirectly
purchase or, receive by way of barter, or exchange or other-
wise, any articles of any. minor, knowing or having reason
to believe him to be such, nor from any person whatever
between the hours of go'clock P. M. and 7 o'clock A. M.
Penalty
Sec. 3. Be it further ordained, That any {Berson or per-

conviction in the Police Court of the City of Paducah, be '
. ' fined in any sum not to exceed $so, or be imprisoned not to .
exceed thirty days, either one or both, 'within the discretion
of the court.
Sec. q. That this ordinance shall take effect from and
after its passage and approval.

City Scales Lot.
An Ordinance Deciaring the Lot on Which the City
Scales are Situated, Especially for the use of Patrons of the
City Scales, and Prescribing a Penalty for Persons .Attempt-
ing to use it Otherwise.
Be it'ordained by the General Council of the City of Pa-
ducah, Kentucky.
Section t. That the lot on which the City scales are

situated in the City of Paducah. Kentucky, known as the
Hay market, be, and the same is Hereby declared to be, for,

the special use of patrons of said City scales, on which their
wagons, horses and cattle, may stand,' and to be used for no
other purpose.
Sec. 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person not

having hay, corn, cattle or other things to be weighed on
said scales to. in any manner obstruct the said lot, by per-.
mitting any vehicle or animals to stand. on said lot, or in
any way occupy said Iiia, and any person violating this or-
dinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, on
conviction in the Police Court of said City, shall be fined
