All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con- flict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. Sec. I. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval. Adopted Feb. 7th, 1898. Houses on the Streets in the City of Padu- cah Shall -be Numbered as follows; viz, First—The• udd numbers shall apply to the north and How west side of the streets and the even numbers to the south numbered and east sides of the streets. Second—On all streets running in a northern and south- negbls on ern direction the numbering shall commence with number Broedwaji too at Broadway and shall increase north and south, at the rate of too nun*ers for each block, as near as the ranging series of streets will admit. Thus Broadway and all the streets parallel therewith and their continuations east and west, shall be rectified lines of uniformity in numbering north and ;.south. Third—On all streets running in a westerly direction the Begins at as numbering shall commence at the river, where the streets elver extend to the river, or on the first street parallel to the river to which the numbered streets extends, and the num- bering shall increas going westwardly at the rate of too num- bers for each block, as the ranging series of streets will ad- mit. The city engineer shall establish all house num- bers in accordance with a plat made by flim and kept on file in his office in conformity with section t of this ordi- nance which is hereby adopted as a permanent system of numbering houses in the city of Paducah. Sec. 3. The city engineer. shall furnish all owners of houses or their authorized agents with the information nec- essary for placing their numbers on their houses and shall when required give a certificate of the proper number ap- plicable to any hoose. Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of the owner or authorized agent of any hous6 on any street not properly numbered, to apply to the city engineer and obtain from him a certifi- cate of the number required within thirty days after the adoption of this ordinance. See. 5. It shall be the duty of each person, or his authorized agent, to keep upon and in front of the house owned by.him, a plain number corresponding with the num- ber mentioned :n his certificate 'obtained from the city engineer. Sec. 6. W hen any person shall build upon any of the streets in Paducah he shall within ten days after the occu- pation of such building comply with section 4 and 5 of this, ordinance. I Sec, y. If any person shall violate any provision of this ordinance he shall be fined not less than $5 nor more than $5o•for each offense. �I • 3 t.
