Court St. Changed to Kentucky Ave. Supt. of Electric Light Plant.
Section 1. That 01c name of a certain street in the city
of Paducah, Kentucky, running east and west, between
Broadway street and Washington street, known and styled
Court street be, and the same is hereby changed from Court
Street to Kentucky Avenue, and the name of the said street
hereafter shall be Kentucky Avenue.
Sec. 2. All ordinanves and parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith, are herety repealed,. and this ordinance shall
take effect from and aft. -.r its passage and approval.

An Ordinance Est,blishing the Office of Superintendent
of the Electric Light Plant and Prescribing the Duties
Thereof and Also Providing for the Appointment of Engi-
neer, Fireman and Lamp Trimmer of Said Electric light
Plant.
Be it ordained by the members of the Common Coun-
cil of the City of Paducah; Ky.

created elected by the Common Council at the first regular meet-
ing in the month of October in each year for the term of
one year, and shall hold, his office until his successor is duly
elected and qualified.
61a11111eROMS Sec. 2. The Superintendent shall be a skilled electric -
tied ian, and patticularly possessed of capability and competency
necessary to manage, control and operate an Electric Light ,

Plant to be used for the purpose of lighting the streets and
other public places. I-fe shall be required to have an intimate
knowledge of the mamter and method of a general electric -
ion, either to operate• and run all .machinery properly, with
reference to both Arc and Incandescent Lights.
He shall in order to be eligible to this office, be a bona' Resident of
City
fide resident of the City of Paducah, Ky., for a period of
two years immediately prior to his election.
Sec. 3• The said Superintendent shall be required to Bond
give bond and security to be approved by the Common
Council in the sum of twenty five hundred (25oo) dollars
conditioned that he will faithfully perform all of the necess-
ary duties pertaining to his office, and that he will take good
care and exercise caret ul control over any and all of the
City property entrusted to him, and all machinery with
which he may be required to work.
Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of the said Superintendent Autlw,
to personally supervise, Superintend and manage all of the
workings and operations of said plant.
Sec. 5. Omitted—Repealed.
Sec. 6. The said Superintendent shall have the right to Apyolntnna
Appoint all engineer, fireman and lamp trimmer, upon assum-
ing the duties of his office. They and each of them, shall
be required to possess the ordinary skill of men in the
capacity of such positions. They shall at all times, be un-
der the direction and order of the Superintendent, and shall
be required to perform such duties as he may direct, as far
as may pertain to the business of an engineer, fireman and
lamp trimmer.
Sec. 7. Omitted --Repealed.

herein named maybe removed therefrom by the'Mhyor and
Members of the Common Council subject to the same re-
srrictions and provkians applicable to the other officers
of tilt City.

An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 917, Titled a"
Ordinance Establishing the Office of Superintendent of the
Electric Light Plant and Prescribing the Duties Thereof,
and also Providing for the Appointment of Engineer, Fire-
man and Lamp Trimmer of said Electric Light Plant.
Be it Ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah, Ky.
Knlary or Section I. That section five, of the above titled ordi-

thereof the figures or words $1200. Thereby increasing the
salary of the Superintendent from $1020 per annum to $t2oo
per annum, and by adding at the end of the said section g,
of the above titled ordinance the following words, to-wit:t.
"The Superintendent of the Electric Light Plant shall give
all of his time and attention to the performance of the duties
of his office, and he shall engage in no other business or
occupaion while so employed by the city."
Salaries of -Sec. 2. That section 7, of the above titled ordinance

figures or words $720, as refers to the salary of the Engineer
and by inserting in lieu thereof he figures or words $84o,
and by striking out the figures or words $480, as pertaining
to the salary.of Fireman, and by inserting in lieu thereof the
figures or words $540, and by striking out the same section
7, the words or figures $48o, as pertaining to the salary of the
Lamp Trimmers, and by inserting in lieu thereof the figure*

Sec. 3. That. all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict with any of the provisions of this ordinance are
hereby repealed to the extent of such confliction and this or-
dinance shall take effect from and after its passage and ap-
proval.

Board of Health.
An Ordinance for the Election of a Board of Health for
the City of Paducah and Regulating the Same and Prescrib-
ing its Powers and Duties.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah. ,
Section, i. . That it shall be the duty of the Common 1"rd to 110
Council of Paducah to elect a board of .health for skid city eleewd
to consist of six persons, not members of such Council
who shall be elected as follows. Two persons for a term of *Te+rm4 filed
one year, two persons for a term of two years, and two per,
sons for a termof three years and at least three of whom
shall be competent physicians. And the Mayor of said City
shall be ex officio a member of such board of health, that -the
first election of said board o: health shall take place by the,
Council at its first regu'.ar meeting in the month of Decem-
ber 1896 and upon the expiration of the term of office of
any member of such board of health elected under this see -
