An Ordinance Fixing and Regulating the License Tax
Upon Street Railway Companies in Paducah.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah,
Sec. 1. That hereafter there shall be charged and col- arears

4..., lected of each and every Street Railway Company ' doing
business in the City of Paducah a license tax of thirty dot
.: lars or at the rate of thirty dollars per annum upon each and
•every motor car, and at the rate of five dollars per annum
upon every trailer car owned and used by such company Tax on
upon the streets of Paducah, and every street Railway Com- trailer earn
parry is hereby required to pay the required amount of such
tax to the City Treasurer, and take his receipt therefor
specifying the number of trailer Cars and the number of
Motor Cars intended to be used, the price of each and
the gross amount of the whole tax paid by the applicant
and upon which receipt the Council Clerk will issue and de-, City Clerk
liver the license to the company as in case of other license
and all licenses,so issued shall under the charter expire on
the 3oth day of April in every year.
Sec. z. Be it further ordained that the license first to
be issued under this ordinance shail be taken out by the
applicants to cover the past time in part and dating •
from the first day of June 1896 and shall expire on the 30th.
day of April 1897 and therefore will be for eleven months
only, and only the per annum rate aforesaid shall be charged
for that time.-

Sec. 3. Be it further ordained that on and after the 30 Date of

day of April 1897 all regular license under this ordinance license
shall bear date the 1st day of May in every, year but Win
' case any such company after the first day of May in any year
shall acqu:re and put in use other additional cari before the
following 3oth. day of April, such company is hereby requir-
ed to make knoNn at once to the City Treasurer or license '

Inspector the fact and at once apply for and obtain the
Treasurer's receipt and license from the Clerk as in other
cases, which last named license shall also expire on the 30th.
day of the following April, and the price to be paid by the
applicant therefor shall be in proportion to the time such ir-
regular license -has to run according to the annual rate
aforesaid.
Sec. 4. That all provisions of previous ordinances to
the extent the same may be in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed and this ordinance
shall take effeffct from its passage and approval, provided
the same shall be accepted in ten days after its passage and
approval .by the Paducah Street Railway Company and
the Peoples Railway Co. in writing filed with the Council
Clerk.

An Ordinance for the Suppression of Bawdy Houses or
Hooses of III Fame in the City of Paducah, Ky.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah, Ky.

Uulawtut to Section r. That it shall be unlawful for any person or
t "t persons, firm or corporation to rent, lease, 6r let to any
person or persons, any building, house, or room in the City
of Paducah, as a bawdy house or to be used as a place of
Prostitution or assignation.
Bawdy house Sec. 2. That any person or persons, who shall within
vrobibited the City of Paducah, establish or carry on or permit to be
carried on, on his or her property or premises, any bawdy
house or houses of ill fame shall upon conviction for each
