An Ordinance to Require Water Companies, Gas Com-
panies, Plumbers, and Other Persons Digging up the Streets
of Paducah to Keep a Deposit with the Council Clerk.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah.
Section t. That any Water Company, Gas Compa.ir
-or plumbar or other person who dig up the streets cf Pad-
ucal. for -ie purpose of laving pipes the-ein, shall keep a
deposit with the Clerk of the Common Council the sum of
$10.00 the $to.00 thus deposited to be used in repairing the
streets dug up by the perron making said deposit when said
street is not properly replaced.
Sec. 2. �Vher any person named in the est. section of
this ordinance fails to repair and pl..ce in as good cond-lion
as before disturl.ed ally street or public place in the city
of Paducah it shall be the duty of the Street Inspector of
said city to at once c.luse the street t; be repaired in as good
condition as be.ore dug ep or dis.urbed, and the cost thereof
to be paid for out of the $lo.00 kept on deposit by said per-
son or Company with the Council Clerk, as required in Sec.
T, of this ordinance.
Sec. 3. When any portion of the $to.00 required to be
kept on deposit with tlr Council Clerk has been used by
the street inspector for r%pairing the streets as hereinabove
required, it shall be. the duty of the Council Clerk to at once
notify the person or Company that they are short in their
deposits in the sum required to repair the streets, and said
Person or company shall at once pay to said Clerk the dif-
ference between the amount then on hand and $to.00; the
object of this ordinance being to r;quire at adl times from
the persons or companies herein named a deposit of $to.00
with the Council Clerk. And that this amount be kept in
tact as a guarantee, th-.t said person or company will keep
the streets and public places in the City of Paducah dug up

Cruelty to Animals
by, said person or company in as good condition as before
disturbed by them, but nothing betein shall be construed
as requiring said person or company to keep said street ~
in repair after the same has once teen replaced in as good
condition as before disturbed by said person or company.
Sec. q. Any person or company violating the provis Penalts
ions of this ordinance shall be fined not less than $5,0o nor
more than $20.00 for each day said person or company
fails to comply with the provisions of this ordinance.
And this ordinance shall take effect from its passage ,
and approval.

Cruelty to Animals,
An Ordinanc to Prevent Cruelty and Mistreatment to.
Dumb Animals.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah, Ky.
Section t. If any person -hall unnecessarily or cruelly
beat, torture, abuse, or otherwise mistreat any horse or orbidTam
Other dumb animals, whether his own or that of another,
'he shall be fined not less than ten dollars nor more than one
hundred dollars.
Sec. 2. It shall be the duty of the Police officers of the
City of Paducah to report to the City Court all violations Police r
of this ordinance coming under their observation or com-
municated to th,m by others,
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect from its passage
and approval.
