Sec. 3. That for the violation of the provisions of Sec-
tion 1,—of this ordinance, the owner, or custodian of the mat
ter or obstruction requiring a light shall be fined not less
than $5.00, nor more than $1o.00 for each offense.
Sec, q. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con -
flirt with this ordinance are hereby repealed, and this
ordinance shall take effect from its passage and approval.

I. The name of Paducah Cemetery is changed to Oak
Grove Cemetery, by which name it shall be known and de-
signated.
2. Said cemetery shall hereafter be tinder the control
and management of the cemetery committee of the common
council, subject however, to the ordinances and resolutions
of the common counciland said cemetery committee shall
perform the duties prescribed by said council in the man-
agement and superintendence of 'said cemetery.
Said cemetery committee shall select and appoint a sex-

shall make a report to the common council in March, June,

which report shall also contain a statement of all new work
required and an estimate thereof. But no contract for new
work connected with said cemetery shall be made' by them
exceeding a cost of $20, unless a description and cost there-

3• The sexton or keeper of said cemetery shall be of

shall reside in the house provided therefor on the cemetery
grounds during his employment and subject to said cem-
etery committee and the ordinances and resolutions of the

that the monuments, vault enclosures, shrubbery, fences,
and other improvements are not damaged, defaced or de-
stroyed by cattle, stock or otherwise. He shall observe and
obey carefully all ordinances, resolutions and orders of the
common council in relation to said cemetery. He shall dig
graves promptly as required, none of which shall be less
than five feet deep. Heshall keep on hand a supply of and
furnish each grave with proper boards for covering the
coffins without charge, and shall open the gate of the cem-
etery to visitors. He shall take an oath before entering
upon the duties of his offiffice that he will promptly and

and will not knowingly permit any body to be disinterred

these rules and may arrest any one without warrant for
violating same in -his presence.

BURIALS.
Sec. t.' Every undertaker or other person before re-
[roving any corpse for burial shall obtain frcm the health
.officer a pernr to do so; and in order to obtain such p,r-
mit shall present to such health o'cers a certificate signed
by the physician who attended the deceased in his last ill-
ness, setting forth the name, age, color, ser nativity and
residence of the derea;rd, and the eature of ;he disease or
injury causing death, as near as can be ascertained.

Sec. 4. The sexton of Oak Grove Cemetery, or other
person in charge of the same, shall return the health officer's
certificates each week to the council .clerk, who shall file
same in his office.

An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 2 of the Re-
vised Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Ky., "Titled Bur-
ials." Defining Additional Duties of Undertakers and Re-
quirements of the Heilth Officer.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the city of
Paducah, Ky..
Section r. That ordinance No. 2 of the revised ordin-
ances of the City of Paducah, Ky., be and the same is hereby
amended as follows: That in addition to the duties prescrib-
ed thereunder, it shall be the duty of all undertakers in the
City of Paducah to file with the -'Clerk of the Council, under
oath, weekly, a statement showing the number and names of
all persons buried by them, whether -in the City or out of
it, and at the time of making said report shall also file the
Health officer's certificate which was issued for any burial
which was not in Oak Grove Cemetery, and all certificates
in their names.
Sec. 2. That in addition to the duties now prescribed,
the Health officer, when issuing a certificate for a corpse to
be shipped_ from the City, shall issue to the undertaker in
charge, two certificates, one to accompany the .remains, the
other to be filed as provided in Sec. t of•this ordinance.
Sec. 3. That it shall be the duty of the health officer to
return to the Clerk of the Common Council for preservation

ments to be Erected in Oak Grove Cemetery and Providing

Be it ordained by the members of the Common Council
of the City of Paducah:

Section 1. That no stone monument shall be erected or

tending in depth not less than two feet from the surface of

An Ordinance Regulating the Price of Grave Privilege,,
in Oak Grove Cemetery, the Alethod of Marking such
Graves and Directing Their Care, Etc.
Whereas; the public burying ground of Oak Grove
Cemetery has been sold off from time to time, under what
has been commonly termed grave privileges, to persons wile
have giveil these little or no care, and such neglect of , this
part of the said Cemetery has caused it to becennt• ujtsigi:tlr
and disgusting, and in order that this ground may have the
proper care and be retained in such condition as may cause
it, to add to the beautifying of the City Cemetery.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah, Ky.
Section F. That after the adoption of this ordinance al'
graves sold in Oak Grove Cenietery, under what is known as'
a single grave privilege,—the price thereof is hereby fixed
,,at. $5.00 per grave for the burial of all persons over
twelve years of age, and at the price of $4.00 per grave for
the burial of Children of the age of twelve or under.

tenement, residence closet open room cellar or any concealed
place occupied or under the control of such corporation,
person or firm.
