gasoline, potatoes, onions and such things of a nature per-

Sec. 2. Any 'person violating the • provisions of this penalties

$10.00 for each offense.

and WHEREAS:—T-he City has been, to a greater or less '
extent, the sufferer thereby, and'further when any of these '
have hitherto been loaned or hired they were, in many in-
stances, not returned and the city was expensed in their re- ` •^
covery.

Section t, That the Steam Roller, Steam Fire Engine,
may be rented
Horse Roller, Road Scraper and Grader and Street plow,
shall only be let to responsible parties, at times when not
used by the City, and at the rental fees fixed in this ordin-
ance.
Rental price
Sec. 2. That for the use of the Steam Roller, the rent -
for use of

al price shall be $rs.00 per day, the party or parties obtain-
ing the use of same to pay the salary of the Engineer, in
addition to the $t5.00 mentioned above, who shall be select- .
ed by the City,—fireman, and all expenses of operating
same, and pay any breakage or damage to same while in
their custody.

For the use of the Steam Fire Engine, the rental price

shall be $15.00 per day, the party or parties obtaining the
use of same to pay the salary of the Engineer, in addition,
who shall be selected by the City,—and all of the expenses
operating the same, and pay for any breakage or damage '
to same while in their custody.—Provided; that in either
of the above instances the Engineer named by the City
Extortion shall extortion as to his charges for services, then the City
prohibited
shall select some other competent Engineer,—For the use
of the Horse Roller the rental price shall be $to.00 per day. '

price shall be $7.00 per day,—For the use of the large
Street plow the rental price shall be $t.00 per day.
Duty of Sec. 3. T#iat it shall be the duty of the Mayor and
MayorItreet wd Street Inspector, to charge up the rental of any machine or
IneWsor implement, named in this ordinance to the party or parties
obtaining same, and the said officials shall be responsible
to the City for the collection of the rental therefor and the I'
cost of any damage thereto from the party or parties to
whom rented.
Sec. q. That the number of days shall be counted
from the time the machine or implement may be taken
charge of by the party or parties to whom rented, and ter-
minate only upon its delivery,—in as goad repair as when

leased,—back to place where same is usually kept by the
City, and the party or firm leasing same shall be held for
each, and every- day such machine or implement may re-
main• out of the custody of the City whether in use or not.
Sec. 5. That upon the failure of the Mayor and Low mustbu

ages to any machine or implement as provided in this ordi-
nance, then it shall be the duty of the Finance Committee
of the Common Council to deduct the amount thereof from
the salary of the two named officers, in ratio to the amount'
respectively of same.
Sec. 6. That all ordinances and parts thereof, in con-
flict with the provisions of this ordinance, to the extent of
conflicting, are hereby repealed and this ordinance shall take
effect from and after its passage and approval.
