Quality of Gravel.
-An Ordinance Specifying the Kinds of Gravel to Be
�. Used in Repairing of the Streets'of the City of Paducah.
Be it ordained by the members of the Common_ Come
IND ail of the City of Paducah,
Section, t. That hereafter all the gravel to be used in
clean gravel
the reconstruction and repairing of the streets, of the city
required
of Paducah, shall be first class in quality, clean, and free
from all dirt, sticks, and any perishable matter of any
kind, and shall.b: screeied and run through a screen of a
vibratory motion operated by steam, electric or other
power, and of sufficient vibration and power to shak,; the
material thoroughly, and of such dimension as to give full

capacity for any amount of material which may be placed
upon. said screen, the meshes of the screen or shaktr to be
from one half to one inch in diameter and it shall be the
duty of any contractor furnishing any gravel under the pro-

visions of this ordinance to construct the sizes of the mesh-
es of any such screens as directed by the Mayor and the
Street Committee, the same to be subject to any change by
order of the Mayor and the Street Committee, but be-
fore any Contractor shall be required to make any such
change, he shall have five days notice in. writing from the

Mayor and the said Street Committee. The screen above
mentioned shall be of sufficient, and with such meshes and
shall be operated in such a manner as to sift all sand and
soil from the gravel to be used. All Contractors take con-
tracts for and with the City, shall be required to spread the
same in the repairing of any of the streets or alleys of the
city so as to mix the different sizes of gravel as much as
possible over the road ted in order that as uniform surface
may be formed upnn the same.
No gravel shall be received for the purpose herein

REVISED ORDINANCES OF PADUCAH.
Quality of Gravel. Obstructing Streets.
Must be Sec. 2. All gravel to be received for the purpose of
Inspected
any repairing as indicated in this ordinance, shall' be in-
spected and measured by the City Engineer, or some one
duly authorized by him for that purpose, and should any of
the gravel presented or offered by any Contractor be unsat-
isfactory by reason of its not coming up to requirements
herein specified, it shall be the duty of the said Engineer,
or his agent, to remove the same at the cost and expense
of the contractor.
Sec. 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances is
conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Sec. q. This ordinance shall take effect on and after
its passage and approval.

An Ordinance to Prevent the Obstruction of the Re-
pairing of .Streets in Paducah.
Be is' ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah.
Driving Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any persons

be undergoing repairs provided the Mayor shall deem it
necessary to, and sthall stretch lines across the ends of such
portion of a street undergoing repairs.
