Gravel Wagon Beds.
An Ordinance Regulating the Size of Wagon Beds Used t.
in Conveying Gravel From Pits, Railroad Cars or Other
Points For Repairing Streets and Public Alleys or Other
Public Places in the City of Paducah, and Which Gravel or
Other Substance is Sold to the City of Paducah by the Cu-
bic Yard; With Penalties Thereunder:
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Paducah, Ky.:
Section t. That all wagon beds used to convey gravel
or other substance which is sold to the City of Paducah by
the cubic yard for the ri.pair of streets, alleys or other pub-
lic thoroughfares or grounds shall be of the dimensions and
measurements hereinafter stated.
Sec. a. All wagon beds for the purpose above named S10ofbe&
and which are to haul one cubic yard shall be 9 feet long, axed
3 feet wide and 12 inches deep, all inside measurement.
All wagon beds hauling one and one-fourth yards shall
be 9 feet long, 3 feet wide and iS inches deep.
All wagon beds hauling one and one-half cubic yards
shall be 9 feet long 3 feet wide and 18 inches dee

All wagon beds hauling one and three-fourthg cubic
yards shall be 9 feet long, 3 feet wide and 2: inches deep. ,
All wagon beds hauling two cubic yards shall be 9 feet
long, 3 feet wide and 2; inches deep.
1 Sec. 3• That the above shall be, all inside measure- construction
ments, and the said bels shalt be ;t,onstructed as follows, etwagons
to -wit:
The bottoms shall be made of 2 -inch by q -inch lumber,
and not lessthan eleven feet long,, and to be shaved off at
the ends for convenience in dumping. The side -boards shall
not be less than one and one-half inches in thickness, of the,
proper lengths, and fhe height as prescribed in section 2 .

bottoms of the wagon bed, and not slipped down on the
outside thereof. The end boards, front and back, shall be
of the same.height as thi side boards in all cases.
Sec. q. All wagon beds used'for the. purpose above
named shall each and every one have the capacity .thereof
,plainly painted on both sides of same] and it;8hall be..the,du-
ty of the city's repesentative to see that all wagons delivering
gravel or other material to the, tity,-shall. have the bedsfilled
to their full capacity, and on any one contract h]b;,•beds "
hauling shall. be of unifcrm size.
SRa.'S ' That no one shall, be permitted to hgul gravel or
other •materia] which ,is=sold to 4he city by the cubic yard,
upon the sareets, alleys, or ?other public .places unless the
wagon beds used in such .hauling shall be of the .dimensions
and in .all other ways conform to the • requirements of this
ordinance. Any person so violating shall be fined in any
