Sec. 8. All railroad companies and street railway Rallro"and

keep their respective tracks reasonably even and smooth
with the surface of the grades and gravel of the streets and
alleys of the city .when improved, along or across which '
their tracks are now or may be hereafter. laid and shall at ,
all times so lay and readjust their tracks if necessary so
as to make the same to conform to the grades of the
streets and alleys of the city as the same are now or may
be hereafter fixed by the City Engineer of Paducah.
Sec, g. If any such company as named in the preced Penslttw
ing section shall violate any of the provisions thereof, such
company- shall he fined not less than $to nor more than
$2o,for each and ever:- day of such violation. But no pros-
ecution shall be commenced under said section " until the
mayor or prosecuting attorney of the city shall give to such
recusant company ten days notice to relay or readjust its
track, describing the place and the defect complained of and
then only upon the failure of said company to comply
with such requirement.

Broadway from First street to Seventh street as pertain-
ing to the placing of posts, poles, awnings, and signs with
the sizes and height of same above the walks, and penalties

Be it ordained by the Common Council of- the City of 1
Paducah:
Section 1. That all wooden posts, iron posts and iron posts and

Paducah, are hereby ordered removed. Provided, however,
that iron posts which support roofed awnings or varandas
are exempted from the provisions hereof.

Sec. 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person, or 4
firm, to erect an y,post made of wood, iron or other material,
except such as are used for light, fire, mail, and relephore -
poles, and poles for carrying electric current or other

wires, along Broadway from First street to Seventh street
for any purpose whatever.

any awning frame, whether of iron or other material, where
any portion of same shall'rest either upon the sidewalk or
curbing along Broadway between First street and Seventh
street.

they shall be supported only by the walls of the buildings
to which same are attached, and no portion of any awning
frame shall be constricted or maintained, in the territory
named ar a less distance in height than nine (9) feet above
the sidewalks.

• Sec. $. That is ihall be unlawful to erect, or maintain,

any sign across or over the sidewalk, along Broadway from
First street to Seventh street, swinging or otherwise, which

board or metal sign, and if circular not more than five feet
in diameter, and in no case shalf any of these be nearer the
sidewalk than Bevel with the bottom .of the windows of the
second story of the building in front of which such sign
may be constructed or erected.

preceding sections, the person or persons so offend-

nance of any obstruction herein made unlawful shall con-
stitute a separate and distinct offense.
Sec. 7. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance,— to the extent of
conflicting,—are hereby repealed and this 'ordinance shall
take effect from and after its passage and approval.

An ordinance' amending ordinance No. 1017, entitled
An ordinance regulating obstructions on sidewalks on
Broadway from First street to Seventh street as pertaining
to the placing of posts,poles and awnings, and signs with the
sizes and heights of same above the walks, and penalties
thereunder.
Be it ordained by the Common Connell of the City of Paducah.
Section I. That section .two of the above titled ordi- Post may be

nance be, and the same is hereby amended by adding after
the close of said section the following: "Provided, how
ever, it shall be lawful for any person to erect in front of
his place of business an ornamental cast iron post not less
insize than six inches at the bottom in diameter and four
III in diameter at the top and ten feet in height on
which such person may erect a circular ornamental sign
to be painted in blackand gold colors and such signs shall
not exceed in diameterfive feet, and all such ornamental sizereetrolsws
cast iron posts shall be uniform in size and even in height
above the sidewalk on which it shall be erecred.
Sec. 2. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance are, to the extent of confliction,
