An ordinance recreating the offices of license inspector and marker master in the City of Paducah, Kentucky: Be it ordained by the General Council of the City of Pa-' ducah, Kentucky: Section t. That the office's of license inspector and mar- Offl"eated ket master be, and they are hereby recreated, in the same manner and form as set out in the original ordinances creat- ing said offices. Sec. 2. Be it ordained by the General Council of the City of Pa- ducah, Kentucky. Market, place Section t. That- Market street between Broadwaydeahmatod street and Court street, the Market house and Market stands, and other improvements therein enclosed, or which may be hereafter erected, therein; shall be known as the Paducah Market, and that said Market shall hereafter be used as a market place of the City of Paducah, Ky., for the sale and purchase of provisions, vegetables and other ar- ticles necessary for the subsistence, comfort and conven- ience of the inhabitants of said city, subject to the following and such other rules and regulations as may hereinafter be adopted by the General Council. fixed es Lorin Sec. a. Said market shall be open every day in the week. Sunday excepted, and remain open during such hours as are herein mentioned. And it shall be the duty of the market master to ring the bell for the opening of the market in Paducah, at s o'clock a. m., from the tsth day of Otto - her, to the tsth day of April; from the tsth day of April to the tsth day of October, q o'clock a m. And said market shall be kept open each morning (Sundays excepted) for three hours, and on each Saturday evening from , z o'clock to g o'clock. Danes or Sec. 3. The prices for license for said stalls shall be as follows: Stalls Nos. 1 2, 23, and 24, $100 per annum. Nos. 11, 12, 13, and 14, $125 per annu n, and all other numbers shall be $75 gents fix per annum. Any such horse, mule or other animal, when unhitched from wagon or vehicle on the mark- et square shall be immediately removed from the market square and notl permitted ,to' remain on said square during market hours. It shall beunlawful for any person to purchase, or ForestallLr sell, or. make any contract or agreement, for the purchase or forbidden sale of any meats, vegetables or provisions or other market- ing, at said market before the opening of the same by the market master, nor shall it be lawful for any person to, pur- �p chase any article at saiid market during market hours for exportation or reselling, nor shall any person sell or offer for sale at the market any article which such person may have pur- chase any article at said market during market hours for designed or intended for said market; that an article shall be deemed sold in violation of the provisions of this ordin- ance, when same shall be set aside, to be delivered after the close of market hours,or on delivery of such prohibited article during or before market hours, or an article of mark- eting withdrawn from public offer of sale to any or all per- sons, who may desire to purchase same at retail during said open market hours, or when the vendor of the article or arti- cles in said market shall put a price on same so high as to cause same to remain unsold, for the purpose of defeat- ing the intent of the said ordinance. The article so held shall be deemed as sold in the meaning of said ordinance and the penaltits prescribed thereunder, shall apply to any and all of the above cases. And it shall be the duty of all persons attending said market with provisions or other marketing for sale to sell and deliver to any person desiring the same, a reasonable quantity of such provisions or mark- eting brought by them to said market. 274 REVISED ORDINANCES OF PADUCAH. Iorestalllrir Sec. 2 _—_ ~-- risrbldden - 7• No person at any time within the corporate . limits of the City of Paducah, shall buy any marketing of any kind with view or for the purpose of offering the same for sale thereafter at the said market place; nor sell nor offer to sell at the said market place any marketing so bought. No person engaged in selling goods, groceries; fruits, vege- tables, or other m,;rchaudise in Paducah shall take any such goods, groceries, fruits, vegetables, or merchandise to the market place in Paducah and there sell or offer to sell the same; except the regularly licensed butchers may go upon the market after market hours are over and buy any meats. . remaining, upon the market and sell the same from their regularly licensed stalls in the market house. It shall be the duty of the market master to observe and report all viola- tions of this section, and any person violating any of the. provisions of this section shall be fined not less than $5 nor more than $25 for each offense. Market Master. and shall be arranged a; he shall direct, by the person having charge thereof. obstructtou Kes That it shall be unlawful for any person or persons using, of iwtui the market benches or stalls to obstruct the passageway in front thereof except that the occupants of the center row of benches, outside of the enclosed portion of the market -house, shall be allowed the use of two and one-half_ (2%) feet of space on the. west side of the said benches upon which they may place barrel's or boxes or coops containing articles to he sold on the market, and than -the occupants of all.benches out- side of the enclosed portion shall hive the right to the use of the space above their respective benches for the display of their goods. It shall be the duty of the market master to keep all passage ways of the market house entirely free from obstruction except as h^rein providA. Penalty Any person who shall obstruct said market place except as herein permitted and who shall refuse to remove said .ob- struction at once upon the order of the Market -master so to do, shall be guilty of a misdenteaeor, and upon conviction shall be fined not less than $5 nor more than $25 for each offense. Sec. 31. All ordit vices and parts of ordinanc.s in conflict with this ordVance are h�rcby repealed. This ord'- nance shall take effect from and after' its passage and ap- proval. An Ordinance Relating to the Compensation and Duties of Market Master and Conferring Police Power Upon Such Officer: Be it ordaintd by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Paducah:
