That after the passage of 'his ordinance no person or corporation, shah be engaged in any trade or pro- fession hereinafter mentioned, until he, she, they or it, shall have obtained a license therefor as hereinafter provided. renaltle° pmelded Sec. 2. Any person who shall violate any of rhe provi°- ion< of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misde- meanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished in the police court by a fine of not more than fifty dollars ($50.00), nor less than ten dolla s ($lo.00), and each day said ordi- nance is violated shall he deemed a separate offense, unless otl:cnrise hereinafter provided for. For hucksters, lung test- Hu keters, Etc ers, operators of telescopes or microscopes, muscle testers, ball or knife throwers, operators of galvanic batteries, or for anything similar to any of the contrivances last mentioned, three dollars ($3.00) per day, or twelve dollars ($12.00) per year. Peddlers shall be classified and licensed as goods follows: Every person, company or corporation that shall peddle goods, wares or merchandise, using a wagon drawn by two or more horses, shall pay a license fee of fifty dol- lars ($50.00) per annum, and if they use a wagon drawn by one horse shall pay a license fee of forty dollars ($40.00) per annum, and if on foot, shall pay a license fee of twenty- five dollars ($25.00) per annum, or a fee of three dollars ($3.00) per day for any one of said classes. Peddlers of Peddlers of Meat, Vegetables and Jewelry. Peddlers ueat,ew. of meat, other than of their own growth, using a wagon, shall pay a license fee of twelve dollars ($12.00) per annum; peddlers of vegetablesotlter than of their own growth, shall pay a license fee of twelve dollars ($12.00) per annum: peddlers of jewelry or spectacles, shall pay a license fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) per annum. Vehicles. For vocal ant instru- amusements - mental concerts, operas, theatres, exhibitions, lectures, bell ringing, negro minstras, sleight of hand performances, and other shows and exhibitions, except such as are given for charitable purposes or 1 enevolent or literary societies, not less than five dollars (;:S.00) nor more than 'twenty dollars ($20.00) for each day in the discretion of the mayor. But 1 small shows may exhibit upon payment of not less than three dollars ($3.00) per day upon the written direction of - the mayor to the treasurer. Publlchalla Public Halls. For each hotel, Hotels and boarding cavern or boarding house, entertaining transient guests, or houses restaurant renting rooms, each twenty dollars ($20.06) per m;r.. All telegraph compa- Telegraph and telephone nies, and telephone companies, shall pay the treasurer of poles the City of Paducah, for the purpose of using the streets, alleys and public places of the City of Paducah, the sum of one dollar ($t.00) per a.:num for each pole used by them in the streets, alleys, and I.ublic places in the city. The princi- pal officer locate! in Paducah of each of said companies, j shall, on the first day of January in each year, file with the city treasurer a statemcn; in writing, under oath, specifying 11 the number of poles in use by his company in the streets, a:beys, and pttblic-pllaces in said city,and said company shall at the same time pay to the said city treasurer of Paducah one dollar ($i.00) for each pole so shown. The principal officer of any telegraph compan% or telephone company, located in the city of Paducah, violating this sub -section, shall, upon conviction be fined not less than twenty dollars ($20.00), nor more thin fifty dollars i$5o.00) for each rffense, and every day's refusal or neglect to pay the amount aforesaid in each ' year, shall constitute a separate offense. Pawn Brokers. Each insurance company, befor.: cosDantes doing business in the C:y of Paducah, shall designate some person as its agent. Stch agent shall procure from the council clerk a paper in blank, upon which shall be noted the various lines of insurance that the said company ex- pects to transact in said city, which blank form said clerk is hereby required to furnish, and after being signed shall be presented to the treasurer, and said insurance company shall pay to said treasurer for the first line, a license tax of fifty dollars ($50.00) per annum, and for each additional line the sum of ten dollars ($to.00) per annum. The various lines upon which a conn;: ny shall be liable for tax, are life, accident and health, fisc, liability, plate glass, credit indem- nity, burglary, steam boiler, tornado, and fidelity and surety. Every company, insurance agency and association, wh--ther guaranteeing drawn contracts, or having other companies to guarantee same, shall be liable for the license tax. If said council shall approve and accept said sureties, and grant said license, the clerk of the council sha'i thereupon issue said license to said applicant, upon his entering into a bond with said sure- ties to said city, accordi0g to law, in the penalty of one thou- sand dollars ($1,000.00) conditioned, that he will keep a qui- et and orderly house, and not permit gaming or riotous or disorderly conduct therein, and shall not keep open his bar, nor sell, nor offer for sale, any spirituous, vinous or malt liq- ours on Sunday, and ot'.erwise comply with all the ordi- nances of the City of Paducah in relation to coffee houses. Sec. 12. All bonds required by this ordinance, shall be -Houde executed to the City of Paducah. Sec. 13. All revenues derived from licenses under the Y*venue ayyortionsl provisions of this ordinance, shall be paid into the city treasury, and placed to the creditof the general revenue funds of the city, according to the respective heads, and in the same proportion as the advalorem tax. Sec. 14. All ordinances, and parts of ordinances, in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall take effect from at d after the first day of January, 1904.
