Street Car Franchise to Rowlandtown.
An ordinance to amend an ordinance entitled"An ordi.
nance providing for the sale of franchises and privileges for
the purpose of erecting and operating and maintaining an
electric street railway, and for distributing electricity for
lighting and forthe ptrpose of furnishing power by wires,
polies and other apparatus in the City of Paducah, Ky."

Be it ordained by the General Council of the City of
Paducah, Ky.:
Section t. Whereas there has been presented to the
General Council of the City of Paducah, Ky., a petition and
request that ehere be sold and granted franchises and privileges
over and upon.'that part of Twelfth St. commencing at a pont at
the intersection of Bernheim avenue and said Twelfth
street, and thence in a northwesterly direction along said
Twelfth street as far as said Twelfth street has been actu-
a:ly opened and has been dedicated to the public for street
purposes, which is to the line of W. H. Rottering's land.
for the purpose of ereeting, operating and maintaining an
electric street railway,wires,and other apparatus on said part
of, said Twelfth Street and also for ,distributing light and
power of electricity or said part of said Twelfth street and
for an amendment of the above named ordinance, approver
July 3rd, 1902, so as to permit the Paducah City Railway to
`remove its electric street railway from that part of Bern-
heim avenue extending from Twelfth to Thirteenth streets,
and from that part of Thirteenth street on which said rail-
way is without incurring the penalty, of forfeiture named in
the seventeenth section of said former ordinance.
It is therefore,hereby ordained and ordered by the Gen-
eral Counci: of the City of Paducah, Ky., that said ordi-
nance heretofore adopted by the General Council of the

the sale of the franchl;es and privileges for the purpose of
erecting and operating and maintaining an electric street
railway, and for distributing electricitbr for lighting, and '
for the purpose of futrlishing power by wire, poles, and
other apparatus, in th4 City of Paducah, Ky." Approved.
July 3+1902, be and the same is hereby so amended as to
order the sale, and tho sale is hereby ordered of the Fran-
chises and privileges for the purposes above mentioned to
construct, operate and maintain a system of electric street
railway, with single .rack and such turn outs, switches
and curves as may be necessary over and aiong the follow-
ing s-treets of Paducah, Ky,, to -wit: Beginning at a point
at the intersection of Bernheim avenue and Twelfth street. '
thence in a northwesterly direction along Twelfth street a:'
far as said Twelfth s reet has been either actually opened
up or has been dedicated to the public for a street
or street purposes, andwhich is the line of W. H. Rotter-
ings' land and for distributing electricity for lighting and
for the purpose of furnishing power by wires, and poles
and other apparatus on said part of said Twelfth street,
Said sale shall be made not less than thirty (30) days front ,
the date of the passage of this ordinance and the approval
of the same by the Mayor of the City of Paducah, Ky..
and shalb be made in the way and manner, and on the same
terms contained in the said former ordinance, except as to
the minimum price on and subject to all the other provis-
ions, conditions and stipulations, exceptions and
P provisos•
contained in said fotPmer ordinance, and with the further
provision that the person or corporation purchasing said
franchise shall procure from the private owner the right to
build, and shall build d,s said road beyond the end of
Twelfth street over. thd private lands of. said W. H. Rutter-
ing , to the town of R owlandtown.
Sec. z. And it is further ordained and ordered that the
said former ordinance 'be further amended so as to permit

the corporation which is operating under the said. ordi-
nance, in the City of Paducah, Ky., a systemof electric
street railway, name!y, The Paducah City Railway, to re-
move its electric street railway and its track, ties, poles,
wire and all other appliances therewith connected from
that part of Bernheim avenue and that part of Thirteentll
street on which the same is now located without incurring
any of t1heI:penaltieseir forfeitures denounced in the t7'th sea
tion ornny,&ecOion of the said ordinance of which this is an
amendment, provided, however, that if the Paducah City
Railway purchase the franchise over Twelfth street to be
sold under the first section of this ordinance then in that
event it shall immediately proceed after such purchase to
' build and put in operation -and operate an electric street
railway over and along Twelfth street and over the private
lands of W. H.. Rotteling to Rowlandtpwn.
Sec. 3. It is further ordered and ordained that if said
franchise when sold is bought by the Paducah City Rail-
way, then -when the said Paducah City Railway shall have
under and by virtue of said franchise removed their said rail
way track from that hart of Bernheim avenue extending .
from Twelfth street to Thirteenth street and from that part
of Thirteenth on which said railway is, and shall have con-
structed their said railway as per the terms of this ordi-
nance hereintofore set out as follows:
Beginning at a point at the intersection of Bernheim
avenue and Twelfth streets, thence in a northwesterly
tlfrection along Twelfth as far as said Twelfth street
has been, either actually opened or has been dedicated
to the public for street purposes, and which is to be the
line of W. H. Rottering's land, then the franchise owned
by the said Paducah .City Railway on that part of said
Bernheim avenue extending from Twelfth street to Thir-
teenth street and on said Thirteenth street from which i -
is contemplated same is to be removed, shall at once cease
and determine absolu ely.

An ordinance fixing and regulating license fees on vari-
ous lines of business, avocations and occupations in the city
of Paducah.
Be it ordained by the General Council cf the city of Pa-

Section. t. That after the passage of 'his ordinance, no
person or corporation, shaii be engaged In any trade or pro-
fession hereinafter mentioned, until he, 'she, they or it, shall
have obtained a license therefor as hereinafter provided.

Sec. 2. Any person who shall violate any of rhe provis-
ion: of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished in the
police court by a fine of not more than fifty dollars ($50.00),
nor less than ten dolla s ($[o.00), and each day said ordi-
nance is violated shall he deemed a separate offense, unles.%
