REVISED ORDINANCES OF PADUCAH.

March, 1854, be and the :nme is hereby continue3 is full force
and effect, as specified in said grant of record.

sentatives of E. Murray g Co., shall complete in all rc;pects
ready for use said new ways on or before the first day of
September, 1854.

Whereas, it is understood that the Chesapeake, Orae and
Southwestern Railroad company has in .•moi-templatiou to re-
move its machine shops from Elizabethtown to same other
point on the line of its toad; and, whereas, it will promote
the improvement of the Litt' of Paducah and the comfort,
convenience a d cdvantlge of its inhabitants if the,prinQipal
machine shops of said road should be permanently located
and maintained in said city; now, therefore, be it ordained
by the mayor and council of the city of Paducah:
I. That for the purpose of inducing said railroad company,
to locate and maintain its principal machine. • shops do said city.

-thousand dollars ($40,000), conditioned for the construction and
permanent location and maintenance of such shops in the
city of Paducah, Ky., by said railroad company and its slit-
+
cessors, and that the cinstruction of said shops shall be
completed within fifteen months from this date, and that at
least forty thousand dollars shall be expended in the construe -
tion of said shops, and the machinery to be used there-
in, including -the actual value of any machinery that may be ,
removed from Elizabethtown or other points on its road,
that then the city of F.Aticah, :n. consideration thereof, will
subscribe for twenty thousand ($20,000) dollars, at its par
valde, of the common stock of said railroad company, and
will issue and deliver 0 said company in payment therefor,
+
at par, coupon bonds of the said city, payable to bearer in
twenty years after the date thereof, and bearing five pei
cent interest, payable semi-annually.
2. That upon the delivery to and filing with the mayor
of said city the bond of said company in the pena:ty and con-
ditions above set forth, , ith sureties satisfactory to and ap-
proved by the council, the mayor of said city shall forthwith
subscribe in the name of the city, twenty thousand dollars.
at its par value, of the common stock of said railroad com-
pany, and shall forthwith execute and cause the corporate
seal of said city to be attached to twenty (20) bonds of one
thousand dollars each, amounting in the aggregate to twenty
thousand dollars, payable and bearing interest as above
stated, and shall deliver the same to said railroad ,company
or iti+ aut)iorized agenl, upon receiving, in ret'arn, certificates
for common stock of said railroad company to the amount
of its par value of twenty thousand dollars.
