The vote of the city to be cast by the mayor as he shall be directed by the council, bur if not so directed then according to his own dis- cretion. G. Be it further ordained that the subscription hereinbe- fore named is made upon the condition that said gravel road be huilr in such manner that the gravel placed thereon shall at no place be less in width than sixteen feet, and the gravel shall not be less in depth in the center of the road than twelve inches, and not Itss in depth at the edges than eight inches. And as a further consideration, it is required by this council that said gravel road company shall annually, on the first day of October in every year, report in writing to the city council the condition of the road, its gross earnings. and expenses and divic-nds to be allowed stockholders. Now, therefore, it is ordered that said town of Padu- cah will and shall give and grant unto said Murray & Co. said four Icts a.+1 the marine tailways and all the fixtures belonging to the same ou said lots as a bonus, on condition that said E. Murray & Co. shall finish and construct on said lots a new set of motine railways as above specified, and shall have the same completed and finished in all parts, ' and ready and capable to dock and . repair steamboats or vessels :,s above specificel with safety and dispatch on or be- fore the 1st day of )larch. 1854.
