An ordinance authorizing the issuing of six per cent bonds of the city. of Paducah forthe purpose of paying off bonds of said city falling due July 1, 1883, the same having . "been .done in pursuance of section 72 of the revised charter of the city of Paducah, approved February 1t, 1871. Be it ordained by the mayor and council of eh@ city of Paducah, Ky.: 1. That the city may issue. her bonds, or certificates of loan, not exceeding forty-five'thnusand dollars ($.15,000), to be signed by the mayor and clerk of the city council, and attested by the seal of the said city, the coupons attached t.) said bonds to be signed by said council clerk. Said bonds ar issued for the purpose of funding or paying offforty- five bonds of one thousand dollars etch, falling due July t ,t 1933, which were issued by said city of Paducah to the New Orleans and Ohio Railroad Company. That if the council of the city of Paducah shall de- sire to pay any or all of said bonds aster the expiration:'dP fifteen years from the date thereof, the same may be done by giving notice in some newspaper published in the city of Paducah_for at least thirty days of the number of said bonds they propose to pay, the bonds to be .paid to be determined by lot. If the bonds so called in for payment are not pre- gt!nte.i to the treasurer of said city at his office for payment within thirty days from the publication of said notice, then i 6e interest on said called bond or bonds shall cease and terminate. 3. Alt the real and personal property of Paducah sub- ject to taxation shall be taxed each year in such amount as may be necessary to pay the interest accruing on said bonds and the principal thereof when the same may become due, or at*any time after the expiration of fifteen years if Jaid council shall elect to pay any or all of said bonds. q. Persons neglecting or refusing to pay taxes assessed for the purposes herein named shall be proceeded against as in similar cases now provided by law. g.' This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage. Adopted April 16, 1883. HENRY H. HOUSTON, C. C. P. Approved April 13, 1883. CHAS. REED, Mayor. Gas Works. An ordinance granting to I. Eichel and his associates the right to erect gas worl•s and lay mains and pipes in and under the streets and alleys of the city'of Paducah, Ky. Be it ordained by the mayor and council of the city of Paducah, Ky.: t. That I. Eichel and his associates are hereby granted the right to erect, maintain and operate gas works in the city of Paducah and rhe right to lay such mains and pipes in and under the streets and alleys of said city as shall bt neressary to convey the manufactured gas to all parts of the city for the benefit of consumers, 2. It is, however, provided that the pipes or mains shall be laid in the usual and customary depth under the streets and in such way and manner as not to interfere with the pipes now laid of rhe waterworks or other pipes now laid in sa'd streets or with any sewers constructed by the city of Paducah. 3• In excavating trenches for mains and pipes of said I. Eichel and his associates, said I. Eichel and his asso- ciates shall use such sides of the streets and alleys as the street committee of the council of -the city of Paducah shall designate, and shall so excavate said trenches as not to in- terfere with or impede travel or the business of the public unnecessarily. The pipes and mains are to be laid as nearly as possible as the trenches are dug or excavated and the. r 9
