Wallace and 'Washington -6. 4' On motion by Member Clay, that- WHEREAS, it is the intention of the j G Mayor and Board of Commissioners to enforce strictly all laws against the maintenance'•. of bawdy houses within the limits of the City Qf Paducah; and WHEREAS; the keepersAl of said houses have been notified that they must abandon their vocations not later f•.. �� C than Septenber 16th, and WHEREAS, the City Physician and the Health Officer and . ;1 i '"'lw`O "" various other physicians of the city of Paducah have represented to this Board that ��' many of the inmates of these houses are infected with venereal diseases. and `. ? �4 WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Board to render such assistance to these unfortu- - nate women as it may- I move that two nurses be employed to not in oonjnnotioa ��•,' with the City Physician, and that the Mayor be ampowerod to rent a house, and that said nurses and said physician receive in said house such women as may be affected with said diseases for treatment, and that under the direction of the Mayor, said 4. nurses and said city, Physician are empowered to provide such food and medicines as l tS 1 may be necessary, and to care .for and to.treat such women until thay are.oured and able to go to their respective homes, and that such expenses, under the direction of the Mayor, be taken from the contingent fund of the city- carried upon all ' of the roll by the following vote: Yese,'Clay.
