HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 26, Page 349, August 12, 1969I Proceedings of Board of Commissioners No. 349 Ciiy of Paducah August 12, 1969 Appoint Members of Civic Beautificatic Board Approve appointmen members of Civic Beautification Boa File bids on tires Approve transfer o: cemetery lot to John & Era Kasper L At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chambe in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on August 12, 1969, Mayor ProTem McNutt presided in the absence of Mayor Cherry, and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3), Commissioner Harvey and Mayor Cherry being absent. Mayor Pro Tem McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that the reading of the Minutes for August 5, 1969 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Mayor Pro Tem McNutt made the following appointments: n Subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, I hereby appoint the following as members of the Civic Beautification Board for terms expiring July 5, 1970 Mrs. George Alston Mrs. Kenneth Katterjohn Mrs. Lillian L. Keiler Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the 9 Board of Commissioners approve the action of Mayor Pro Tem McNutt appointing members of the Civic Beautification Board for terms expiring July 5, 1970. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the following bids for the sale to the City of the City's requirement of tires during the year 1969, be received and filed: Goodyear Service Stores Firestone B. F. Goodrich Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, as follows I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the transfer from Alfred Watkins and wife, Thelma Watkins to John Kasper and wife Era H. Kasper, of the north one-half of Lot No. 1 and 6 feet off the northeast corner of Lot No. 2 in Block No. 30 in Oak Grove Cemetery. I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Allan Rhodes, Inc. Wilson Equipment Company Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, as follow: I move that copy of a motion adopted by the Paducah Planning commission on August 6, 1969, recommending closing of a portion of an alley lying between South 16th Street and Short South 16th Street be received and filed. I further move that a copy of the letter of Elmer Y. Hollis & Associates, dated July 17, 1969 to the Paducah Planning and Zoning Commission, relating to the dedication new alley between South 16th Street and Short 16th Street, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that the City receive and file the Certificate of Insurance issued by the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to the McCracken County Board of Education and the Lone Oak Foot- ball Association, Inc., which certificate names the City of Paducah as an additional insured, and which insurance is to protect all parties from liability which might occur as a result of the use of Brooks Stadium as a football stadium during the period of one year beginning August 16, 1969. Terminate Mayor Pro Tem McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, as Larry Arant / Dale Badgett ' follows: Resignation) I move that the following personnel changes be made: Winston Hugh,�s ✓ 1. Larry Arant, temporary laborer in the Street Division, be terminated, effective Promote to ;' August 5, 1969 Truck Driverjl T.E.Forrestec 2. The resignation of Winston Hughes, seasonal laborer in the Cemetery Department, R.E.Travis IJ be accepted, effective August 5, 1969. J.R.Helton 3. The following laborers in the Public Wroks Department be promoted to truck drivers Shirley in said department, effective August 1, 1969, at a salary of $2.23 per hour: Le Neave I SwitchboardThomas E. Forrester Operator Ronald E. Travis James R. Helton Employ George Riley 4. Shirley LeNeave, temporary clerk -typist in the Finance Office, be transferred to Switchboard Operator, retroactive to August 1, 1969 at a salary of $275.00 per mont 5. Dale Badgett, laborer in the Refuse Division, be terminated, effective Aug. 5, 1969 1 6. George Riley be employed in the Street Division of the Public Works Dept. as a temporary laborer, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive to August 11, 1969. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). of a No. 351 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah August 12, 1969 Close alley btw 16th & Short 16th Accept bid " Wilson on Refu truck Accept bid B.F.Goodrich on tires Amend Sections 4 and 21 of Paducah Zoning Ordinance -1961 Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF AN ALLEY LYING BETWEEN SOUTH 16TH STREET AND SHORT SOUTH 16TH STREET IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO INSTITUTE A SUIT IN THE MCCRACKEN CIRCUIT COURT FOR THE PURPOSE OF HAVING SAID PORTION OF SAID ALLEY LEGALLY CLOSED", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that ar ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF WILSON CHEVROLET-CADILLAC, IN( FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE REFUSE PACKER AND TRUCK FOR USE IN THE REFUSE DIVISION OF THE CITY OP PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF B. F. GOODRICH FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH WITH ITS REQUIREMENT OF NEW AUTOMOBILE AND TRUCK TIRES FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME FROM AUGUST 1, 1969 TO JULY 31, 1970, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGE TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURPOSE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). Mayor Pro Tem McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH PLANNING COMMISSION RESPECTING THE AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS 4 AND 21 OF THE PADUCAH ZONING ORDINANCE -1961, AND AMENDING SAID SECTIONS", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, Puryear aid Mayor Pro Tem McNutt (3). On motion the meeting adjourned.
