HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 26, Page 192, May 28, 1968No. 192 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah—_ _ Mal 28 • 1968 At a regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held on May 28, 1968, in the Commission- Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky at 7:30 P.M., Mayor Cherry presided and uponcall of the Roll the following answered to theis names: Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for May 14, 15 and 22, 1968 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Chery be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Trans Cemetery d Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the lot to Georg Allen Wilkinson Board of Commissioners approve the transfer by G. S. Wilkinson and wife, to George Allen Wilkinson of the south one-half of Lot No. 8 in Block "E", AND a portion of the I south one-half of Lot No. 49 is Block No. 4 in Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). File contract Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that Kay Uniforms,) the executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Kay Uniforms, for i sale to the City of clothing to be used by members of the Paducah Police Department, for a period of one year from April 6, 1968, be received and filed. Adopted on i call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Sell lot in Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that Oak Grove George T. the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to George F. Runge, Runge, Jr. &I wife I Jr. and wife, Nine Mae Runge, of the north one-half of Lot No. 24 in Section No. 3 of the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $400.00, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. i I� Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryearand I� Mayor Cherry (5). Joe N.Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that on Weatherspoon ✓j Resignation, recommendation of the City Manager, the following personnel changes be made: I Wm. E. Riche, y 1. Resignation of Joe N. Weatherspoon, a collector in the Refuse Division, Terminated effective May 24, 1968 at 3:30 p.m., be accepted. Employ Edwin'',/ 2. The employment of William E. Richey, an employee in the Refuse Division, Edward George Il be terminated, effective May 24, 1968 at 3:30 p.m. Laborer in Refuse 3. Edwin Edward George be employed as temporary laborer in the Refuse Division of the Public Works Department effective May 27, 1968 iat $1.90 per hour. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). e / Commissioner McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that Robert C. Cherry, Mayor of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be authorized to sign, on behalf of the said City, Form HUD -1082 (A Review of Progress Under The Workable Program For Community Improvement), and that a copy of same be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). ia Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that a Resolution I entitled "A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE IMPROVEMENT OF U. S. 62 (BLANDVILLE ROAD) FROM U. S. 45 (LONE OAK ROAD) TO PECAN DRIVE IN AND NEAR THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert and Mayor Cherry (3), Nays, Commissioners McNutt and Puryear (2). Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an V ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC FINANCE, AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A DIRECTOR IN SUCH DEPARTMENT, AND SUCH OTHER CLERICAL ASSISTANCE AS MAY BE NECESSARY THEREIN, AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF BOND FOR SAID DIRECTOR AND FOR THE CITY MANAGER, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). / Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1, 5 AND 6 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING AND REGULATING THE INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION OF ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING AND APPLIANCES WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; ESTABLISHING THE FEES AND CHARGES FOR MAKING ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF AN ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF HIS COMPENSATION; PROVIDING THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON MARCH 6, 1951, AND AMENDED ON MAY 20, 1952", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). / Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that an V ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE V OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICE FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH; 194 IProceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah May 28, 1968 -- PRESCRIBING RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING SANITATION AND THE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF REFUSE; PRESCRIBING CHARGES FOR SAID REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICE AND THE METHOD OF FIND CING SAID SERVICE; AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID ORDINANCE", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 16, 1952, AND AMENDED ON FEBRUARY 22, 1966", be adopted. McCARLEYTO PURCHASE PROPERTY KNOWN AS 2509 BRIDGE STREET j IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, OWNED BY THE CITY, FOR THE SUM OF $111.32, AND i AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A DEED OF CONVEYANCE", be adopted.
