Yhritt File bids on Street Sweeper At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 10, 1963, Mayor Pro Tem Gholson presided in the absence of Mavor Cherry and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4), Bayer Cherry being absent (1). savor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for August 13th and 27th, 1963, be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (L). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the liability insurance policy issued by United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to the City of Paducah, covering; work done by Calvin Talley for a period of one year from August 8, 1963, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby. Karnes and I•iayor Pro Tem Gholson (1j. Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the liability insurance policy issyed by United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to the City of Paducah, covering work done by John P. Whitt for a period of one year from August 24, 1963, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and 1`avor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the followinq bids for the sale to the City of a street Sweeper, be received and filed: Cardinal Carryor Company, Inc. Embry Bros. Henry A. Patter Supply Company Rudd Construction Equipment Co. Inc. Noti Co=issioner Hornsby offered motion that Sarah Thurman, City Clerk of the City l S=ards of., of Paducah, Kentucky, be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed to publish a rotige in the Sun Democrat statins: that at the next regular meeting of the Board of Com- missioners of said City to be held on September 24, 1963, an ordinance will be intro- duced for passage, adopting by reference the 1963 Edition of the Standards of Safety of the Coru..onwealth of Kentucky, and that said notice shall be published not less than five (5) days before said meeting,. Corti£icatio / Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that a copy of the Certification of the re. referendum v Social Securlt-r ferendum of the civil service employees of the City of Paducah, held on August 5, 1963 showing that a majority of the eligible employees voted in favor of civil service positions of the city being covered by social security, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Wilkinson and the City of Paducah, Kentuck,•, for a period of one year from September 14, 1963, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and ;ayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the claim of i'srs. Clinton Adams, 424 South 19th Street, Paducah, Kentucky, in the sum of $250.00 for damares suffered on or about September 5, 1962 because of an alleeed defect in the street at 21st and Adams Streets be allowed, and that the Treasurer pay said claim after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (L.). Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: It appearing. that Charles Champion, a Captain in the Detective Division of the City of Paducah, who is scheduled for retirement from said division on September 30, 1963, under the terms and provisions of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of said city on March 13, 1962, has requested, by letter, that his employment as such be continued, and that such con- tinuation has been recommended by letter of Paul Holland, Chief of the Police Department I move that this Board declare that a continuation of such employment will be for the best interest of the City, and that such employment be continued until midnight on the 31st day of March, 1954, unless terminated prior to such time by operation of law. I further move that said letters be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: It appearinr that L.
