HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 96, December 1, 1959Ne 96 Proceed;ngs of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah Docember 1. 1959 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on December 1, 1959, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Fendley being absent (1). Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on December 1, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on lif call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Settle Claiml Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the claim of John D. Monroe against John D. Monroe j the City in the sum of ;3198.25 for damage to his motor vehicle on November 6, 1959 on South 41st Street, caused by a street repair truck of the City, be allowed, and that the Treasurer be and he is hereby,directed to pay said sum after securing a full and com- plete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Sell Graves Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the Rushing Add Mrs. Willie i sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Willie Kittrell of the northwest corner of Lot 10 Kittrell in Block 8, also the northeast corner of Lot 10 in Block 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyanc i to said cemetery graves. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Repeal motion Commissioner Hook offered motion that the motion adopted by this Board on claim of Wm. 11 / E. Collier i✓ November 24, 1959 allowing a claim in the sum of •;)19$.25 to 'Jilliam E. Collier be, and the same is hereby, repealed, cancelled and held for naught. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). 1959 Editionll Mayor Jacobs offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING National , Electrical I✓I THE 1959 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE RECOMMENDED BY THE NATIONAL FIRE Code PROTECTION ASSOCIATION, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, 8ommissioners Fairhurst Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). The Board recessed, during which time Commissioner Fairhurst left. Amend Ord. / Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "API ORDINANCE Board of V Equalizations AMENDING SECTION 4 OF All ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A BOARD OF EQUALIZATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF EQUALIZING THE ASSESSMENTS OF PROPERTY FOR TAXATION I IPI THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, PROVIDING FOR THE COMPENSATION OF SAID BOARD, OFFICE HOURS AND TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING}, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON OCTOBER 19, 195711, be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (3). Appoint Board V Mayor Jacobs offered the follotring motion: I move that Chas. Vandevelde, of Equalization Bobbie Stubblefield and Ed Ross be appointed to serve as members of the Board of Equalization of the City of Paducah, Kentucky for the year 1959. That the members I' of said board, after being first duly sworn to faithfully discharge the duties of their J office, be directed to meet at the City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky on the 7th day of II December 1959; to elect from among themselves a chairman and a clerk; to notify the II City Auditor that they are ready to receive the assessment books and to then proceed with the equalization of assessments on all real and personal property within the city subject to taxation in accordance vrith the provisions of law; and the members of said No 97 PfoceedMgs of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah December 1, 1959 Employ Raymond L Rose-Floodwall z board are to receive for -their services the amount of compensation fixed by ordinance. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (3). Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Raymond L. Rose be employed temporarily as a maintenance operator in the Floodwall Department, effective December 16, 1959, at a salary of ,?270.00 per month, such employment not being under civil service. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (3). On motion the meeting adjourned. fDOPTED 1959 APPROVED 7 Uity Ulerk
