HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 94, November 24, 1959Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah November 24, 1959 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on November 24, 1959, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Mayor Jacobs offered motion t hat the reading of the Minutes for November 10 and November 1$, 1959 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by i the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Nayor Jacobs (50. Clifton Garland Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that Clifton Garland, Laborer in the places under:; Civil Service Maintenance Department, be employed under Civil Service, effective December 1, 1959, I provided that by such time he furnishes the City Manager, at his own expense, a satis- factory medical report. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). ;!alter Smith Commissioner Fendley offered motion that Walter Smith, an employee in the transferred to Refuse i Street Division of the Department of Public works be transferred to the Refuse Divi si8n Division of such Department as a laborer at an hourly wage of 31.35z, effective December1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and / Mayor Jacobs (5). Richard / Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the letter from Ed Turner, Fire Chief, Boyarski ' permanent addressed to the City Manager dated November 16, 1959, advising that Richard Boyarski fireman has completed fifteen (15) days of probationary period in the fire department and recommending that his appointment be made permanent as of November 16, 1959, be received and filed, and I further move that the said Richard Boyarski be, and he is now made a permanent employee of the fire department. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Settle Claim Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the claim of William E. Collier William E. Collier Yagainst the City in the sum of ;198.25 for damages to his motor vehicle on No b, 1959 on South 41st Street, caused by a street repair truck of the City, be allot -red, and that the Treasurer be, and he is hereby, directed to pay said sum to him after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Settle clairr�i J Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the claim of Lewis A. Kirk in the Lewis A. Kir� �i sum of 9"41.00 for damages to his motor vehicle on Husbands Street between 7th and 8th Streets on October 13, 1959, caused by an accident with the sewer cleaning equipment, be allowed, and that the Treasurer pay said amount to him after securing a full and the Roll Yeas complete release. Adopted on call of , , Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Idayor Jacobs (5). Edwin Walsto Commissioner Hook offered motion that the letter from Ed Turner, Fire Chief, permanent / fireman addressed to the City &Tanager dated November 17, 1959, advising that Edwin Walston has completed fifteen (15) days of probationary period in the fire department and recommending that his appointment be made permanent as of November 17, 1959, be received and filed, and he further moved that the said Edwin Walston be, and he is now made a permanent employee of the fire department. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Na 95 P.oceed;ngs of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah November 24, 1959 Settlement Sewer char Refuse col tions Oct. 1959 Liability Ins & Bond of Littleton Plb & Heating Commissioner Hook offered motion that the reports of the Paducah dater Works be received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasurer to be deposited in the proper accounts: Refuse collections for October, 1959 9`10,389.05 Sewer Service Accounts for October, 1959 10,101.$0 Bad refuse accounts collected during October 3.20 Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (50J Commissioner Hook offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, approv, and file Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New Yorl to LaVerne Littleton d/b/a Littleton Plumbing & Heating Repair Service and the City of Paducah, Kentucky for a period of one year from November 1, 1959; also bond of the said j 1 Littleton Blumbing & Heating Repair Service in the amount of :)1,000.00 dated November 2, i 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Request bids Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that a Resolution entitled: '.?A RESOLUTION police car ,% REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE NEII 1960 STANDARD 4 -DOOR SEDAN AUTOPdOBILE FOR USE Iid THE POLICE DEPARTTENT AND PRESCRIBING THE i CONDITIONS UPON 1•1HICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call i j of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Accept bid of Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "API ORDINANCE West Ky I-lotor j! Co -Inspection ACCEPTING THE BID OF l9EST KENTUCKY MOTOR COMPANY, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE Dept. car V (1) NEW 1960 AUTOtfiOBILE FOR USE IPI THE INSPECTION DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Ad on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). On motion the meeting adjourned.
