HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 84, October 13, 1959No $4 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Padoc h October 13, 1959 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on October 13, 1959, Mayor i Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Fairhurst being I absent, Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for September 22 and September 30, 1959 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Water connec I', Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: I move that the petition of tion Morris / McBride ✓ Morris McBride and his wife, Carrie McBride, for permission to make one 3/4 inch Cardinal Lane connection to the 2 -inch privately owned water pipe line owned by Loren M. Jones so as I to furnish water to one residence only to be constructed upon Lot No. 10 in Block 7 in the Thurman - Minerva Addition to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, fronting 54.33 feet on the west hide of Cardinal Lane (South 42nd Street) in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Mannon, for permission to make one 3/4 -inch connection to the privately owned Avenue water pipe line of the Husbands Road Community Water Company for the purpose of furnishir water to one residence only to be constructed upon property owned by petitioner front- ing 80 feet on the south side of Dixie Avenue in McCracken County, outside the corporate limits of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. Milliken Farm, fronting 48 feet on the East side of Oaks Road in McCracken County, I' Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Wallace Tanner & SonJ The travelers Insurance Company to the City of Paducah covering work done by H. Wallace i' Tanner & Son for a period of one year from July 13, 1959, be received, approved and N1 filed. Police report Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the report of the police department Sept. 1959 {II for the month of September, 1959, be received and filed. Jone ✓ Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, West Ky Asphal Paving Co, approve and file bond of Harold Jones d/b/a West Kentucky Asphalt Paving Company in the amount of $1000.00, dated October 13, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Liab. Insurance�/ Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, Presley Plb & Heating Co. approve and file liability insurance issued by United States Fidelity and Guaranty C Company to the City of Paducah covering work done by Presley Plumbing & Heating Company for a period of one year from September 23, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Leslie H. Brom}e Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the letter from permanent fireman Ed Turner, Fire Chief, addressed to the City Manager dated October 2, 1959, advising j that Leslie H. Browne has completed fifteen (15) days of probationary period in the fire i (j department and recommending that his appointment be made permanent as of Qctober 2, 1959, be received and filed, and I further move that the said Leslie H. Browne be, and he is now, made a permanent employee of the fire department. Adopted on call of the Roll, j Yeas, Mommissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Earl R. Hays Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the letter from fermanent ireman Ed Turner, Fire Chief, addressed to the City Manager, dated October 1, 1959, advising that Earl R. Hays has completed fifteen (15) days of probationary period in the fire department and recommending that his appointment be made permanent as of October 1, 1959, be received and filed, and I further move that the said Earl R. Hays be, and he is now, made a permanent employee of the fire department. File bid on Commissioner Hook offered motion that the bid submitted by Dealers Truckstell Packer type Refuse body Sales, Inc, on one (1) packer type refuse body, be received and filed. Request bids onl ✓ Commissioner Hook offered motion that a resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION Packer Type Refuse body REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) PACKER TYPE REFUSE BODY FOR USE IN THE REFUSE DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, AND ji PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE PROM - Bodner Appraiser KU ING FOR AND AUTHORIZING THE COMPENSATION OF ANDREW E. BODNER OF BURNS & NcDONNELL ENG- INEERING COMPANY OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, AS APPRAISER FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH IN CONNECTION WITH THE ACQUISITION OF THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM OF KENTUCKY UTILITIES COMPANY WITHIN SAID CITY, AND AUTHBRIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAME AND SETTING FORTH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH CONTRACT", be introduced and remain I on file for public inspection for at least one (1) week in the completed form in which I it shall be put upon its final passage. " DeMumbree, Jz as a fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of fireman $270.00 per month, effective October 16, 1959, provided that by such time he furnishes, at his expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardigram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hoo k and Mayor Jacobs (4). Employ James Commissioner Fendley offered motion that James Donald Rucks be employes as a fireman Donald Rucks 11 Fiheman in the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of $270.00 per month, effective October 17, 1959, provided that by such time he furnishes, at his ex- pense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition including an electrocardigram. Employ Edwin) Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Edwin Walston be employed as a fireman Walston /f Fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of $270.00 per month, effective November 2, 1959, provided that by such time he furnishes, at his expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condi- tion, including an electrocardigram. Employ Richard Commissioner Hook offered motion that Richard Boyarski be employed as a fireman in Boyarski Fireman the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of $270.00 per month, effective November 1, 1959, provided that by such time he furnishes, at his expense, i the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his pirysical condition, in- cluding an electrocardigram.
