Open portion 29th Street %, ;•Jork':Program File bids on Motor Grader At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on February 10, 1959, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). 1-layor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for January 27, 1959 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). . Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Fannie Debow of a single grave located at the south east corner of Lot 4 in Block 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the Financial Report of the Paducah Junior College for the year 1958 be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the Audit Report of the City / of Paducah for the year ended December 31, 1958, prepared by I'Jilliams, Williams and Lentz, Certified Public Accountants, be received and filed. He farther moved that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, directed and authorized to publish said Audit Report in the Paducah Sun -Democrat. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). / Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the claim of K &Id idotel against the City of Paducah in the sum of ;}10.00, for damages to a neon sign by a city street department truck on the Lone Oak Road on January 14, 1959, be allowed; and that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized to issue a check for said amount, after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter from Rabbi Max Kaufman, Chairman of the Citizens Emergency Relief Committee, reqursting an emergency allocatio of funds, be received and filed; He further moved that the City Treasury be directed and it is hereby authorized to draw a check against the Contingent Fund in the amount of ""333.33 for this purpose. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, }look and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter of Claussner Hosiery Company, dated January 30, 1959, requesting the opening of a certain portion of 29th Street be received and filed; he further moved that all that portion of 29th Street extending 181.5 feet from the north line of Jackson Street be placed on the work program. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and ?'.ayor Jacobs (5). File Contract Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the executed contract between the Ashland Oil , � City of Paducah and Ashland Oil & Refining Company, for the furnishing of gasoline for the period from January 1, 1959 through June 30, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor i Jacobs (5). Employ l'Im. P.:! Commissioner Gholson offered motion that l9illiam P. Hester be employed Hester- / I Janitor ✓ as Janitor for the City of Paducah retroactively effective to January 29, 1959 and that he be paid for such work at the rate of •212.00 per month. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hoak and Mayor Jacobs (5). Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and IAayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that the employment of Toy York on January 26, 1959 for emergency floodwall operation work, by Gene Ruoff, Floodwall Superintendent, be ratified and confirmed as of said date and that said person be paid for such work at the rate of ..x1.171 per hour until dismissed by the Floodwall Superintendent after the flood emergency has ended. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the transfer from Thomas H. Haden and wife, Darlese Haden to H. L. Randolph and wife, Alirie Randolph, of two grave sites located in the center of and west side of Lot 1,16. 5 in Block "Y" in Oak Grove Cemetery, which lot is on the east side of Magnolia Avenue betweel Myrtle Street and Rose Street. He further moved that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Book and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AIS ORDINA. DIRECTING THE CO?•d•SSSIOIdERS OF WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, NOT TO CON- STRUCT OR CAUSE TO BE CONSTRUCTED ANY ADDITIONAL 1JATER MAINS, OR ANY EXTENSIONS OF EXISTING,'MINS, OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH," be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Aid ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7A OF THE }APPOINTIVE EI•U?LOYEEST CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE', WHICH :JAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF CC,114ISSIONERS Oft DECEMBER 2, 1947, and amended on July 8, 195811, be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Leona Shelby be employed as Evaluation Clerk in the AssessorTs Office; said employment to be under civil service and at the starting salary of •;x230.00 per month as provided by ordinance; such appointment to be effective retroactively to February 1, 1959.
