Merritt Terminated Plater mains Minerva Plac & Sunset Court Add. Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 4:30 P.M. on July 13, 1959, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook anti Mayor Jacobs (5). Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the agreement signed by the Mayor and Commissioners to hold a Called Meeting at 4:30 P.M. on. July 13, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs.(5). Commissioner Hook offered the following motion: I move that the petition signed by Roberta A. Higgins and others, requesting the installation of a street light, together with a report of the Police Department recommending that the light be installed in front of 2400 Clay, be received and filed. I further move that the City Manager direct the Kentucky Utilities to install said light at the above location. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commission- 1 ers Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the letter.from Ray Kayse, Director of Public Works to Lloyd C. Emery, City Manager, dated July 6, 1959 recommending that Ronald E. Merritt, laborer in the Refuse Division of the Public Works Department be terminated as of 6:30 A.M. July 6, 1959 because of excessive absenteeism be received and filed;and he further moved that such employment be and it is hereby terminated as of said time and date. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: It appears from a letter dated July 7, 1959, filed by the Commissioners of �hter Works that they recommend the installation of water mains to provide fire protection to the property located in Sunset Court and Minerva Place Addition areas, which are presently being supplied domestic water service from privately owned sub -standard water lines. I, therefore, move that the letter of the Commissioners of Water Plorks be received and filed and that the Paducah Water Works, through its Board of Commissioner be authorized to install water mains described and located as follows: "An eight inch cast iron water main along the following streets: Buckner Lane from the west terminus of the existing mainto a point 160 feet west of the west line of Minerva Place or Ord Street, a distance of approximately 1,768 feet; 42nd Street or Cardinal Lane from Buckner Lane to the intersection of Cardinal Lane and Sunset Avenue, a distance of approximately 1,363 feet. A six inch cast iron water main along the follolling streets: Sunset Avenue from the existing main on Hilldale Road or 39th Street to the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Minerva Place; Minerva Place from a point 75 feet South of the South line of Sunset Avenue to Buckner Lane; 41st Street from Sunset Avenue to the existing main on Court Avenue; the total being approximately 3,840 feet of six inch mains, or a grand total of approximately 6,971 feet of six and eight inch maihs: I further move that the adoption of this resolution be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the fire hydrant and main rental, as provided in the franchise, on the pipe lines and fire hydrants referred to in the letter of the Commissioners of water Works, said rentals to begin wrhen said fire hydrants have been installed. No 51 Proceedings of Hoard of Commi oci on,rc City of Paducah Ji l y 13, 1959 Fire hydrants Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: It appears from a letter Court Ave & 41st Street dated July 7, 1959, filed by the Commissioners of Water :,forks that they recommend the installation of fire hydrants and the water mains owned by the Water Storks on Court Avenue, between Hilldale Road and 41st Street, and on 41st Street between Court Avenue and Park Avenue, in order to provide fire protection to the adjacent property. I, therefore, move that the letter of the Commissioners of Water "forks be receive and filed and that the Paducah Water Works, through its Board of Commissioners, be authorized to install fire hydrants as follows: 3 - Fire Hydrants on Court Avenue, between Hilldale Road and 41st Street. 1 - Fire Hydrant on 41st Street, between Court Avenue and Park Avenue I further move that the adoption of this resolution be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the fire hydrant and main rental, as provided in the franchise, on the pipe lines and fire hydrants referred to in the letter of the Commissioners of hater Works, said rentals to begin when said fire hydrants have been installed. Pay 3150.00 for Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: WHEREAS, on February 2$, 19561 Marshall Gray ,l property II the City of Paducah instituted a condemnation action in McCracken Circuit Court against Treatment Plan Marshall Gray and numerous other defendants to acquire a tract of land to be used in connection ulth the sewerage disposal plant; and WHEREAS, thereafter the Judge of McCracken Circuit Court appointed three commissi< ers to view said land; and ltHER.EAS, said Commissioners have viewed said land and have filed a report stating that tf value therefor to be paid by the City is the sum of •3150.00. II therefore move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to issue a check in the amount of 3150.00 upon the Sanitary Sewerage Improvement Project Construction Account payable to Alfred Obermark, McCracken Circuit Court Clerk, i for and on behalf of all of the defendants in said action as their interest may subse- quently be determined by the Court. Permit Drainage Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter of June 22, 1959 from C. C. structures ,/ floodwall Noble, Colonel, Corps of Engineers, to Lloyd C. Emery, City Manager, enclosing approved permit with drawings to State of Kentucky Highway department to remove the existing 24" drainage structures at Station 223+57 Section "C" and at Station 224+17 Section "C", respectively; and to construct a 36" drainage structure at Station 224+50 Section "C", be received and filed. Police repo Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the report of the police department for June 1959 the month of June, 1959, be received and filed. Liability Ins.l Commissioner Fendley offered motion t hat the Board of Commissioners receive, ;talker Boat Yd approve and file Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Walker Boat Yard, Inc, and the City of Paducah, Kentucky for the period from October 15, 1958 to October 15, 1959. Resignation Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the letter of resignation dated June Bobby Jones Refuse i�24, 1959 from Bobby Jones, laborer in the Refuse Division of the Public Works Departmen; be received, filed and accepted effective June 30, 1959. Irvin Langstop/ Commissioner Hook offered the folloi-ring motion: I move that the letter of Irvin changed to Truck Driver I Langston, employee in the Public Works Department, dated June 9, 1959 requesting that IIhis employment as Sewer Maintenance Man at 31-55 per hour be changed to employment as Truck Driver at 31.37 per hour be received and filed. I further move that such request be granted effective as of July 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). Employ Gene Commissioner Hook offered motion that Gene A. Bryant be employed as a temporary Bryant -Laborer laborer in the Street Division of the Department of Public Works effective July 16, 1959 at 31.171 per hour.
