HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 460, November 27, 1962460 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah November 27 1962, At aRegular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on November 27, 1962, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for November 13, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Favor Cherry made the following appointment: I move that William L. Kressenberg, be appointed as a member of the Board of Appeals of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a term expiring February 28, 1967. Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the action. of Robert C. Cherrt, Mayor, appointing William L. Kressenberg as a member of the Board of Appeals,for a term expiring February 28, 1967, s that said board as now constituted shall be composed of the following members: William R. Burnett for a term expiring, February 28, 1963 William Stewart for a term expiring February 28, 1964 Emmett H. Kennedy for a term expiring February 28, 1965 Paul Duncan for a term expiring February 28, 1966 William L. Kressenberg for a term expiring February 28, 1967. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson. Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of the Police Department, i move that the City P•tanager be, and he is hereby, authorized to request installation of a street light on the telephone pole in front of 323 N 38th Street. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. C. P. Woods of the southwest corner of Lot No. 403 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Mary Cunningham of the North one-half of Lot No. 28 in Block No. 2 of the Mausoleum Addition to Oak. Grove Cemetery for the sum of $220.00. I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson., Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the following bids on gasoline, etc. be received and filed: Sunray D-! Oil Company Sinclair Refining Company Gulf Oil Corporation. Edna Mae Hyatt be employed as temporar Mae l'Jaatt Temp Clerk license clerk, in the City Treasurer's Office, effective December 3, 1962, at a salary of Finance Dept x190.00 per month; such employment being only temporary and not covered by any Civil Service rights or privileges. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Liability Ins �' /" Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The H. Wallace y� Tanner & Son Aetna Casualty and Surety Company to the City of Paducah, covering work done by H. Idallac Tanner & Son, dated November 7, 1962, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). File contract Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the executed copy of the contract between Taylor -Wilson Impala II the City of Paducah and Taylor dilson Chevrolet -Cadillac, Inc. for sale to the City of One (1) new 1963 Chevrolet Impala Four Door Automobile, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Sell Lot Oak Commissioner Cholson offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Grove to R.F. & Birdie Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to R. F. & Birdie Sullivan of the Sullivan II North one-half of Lot No. 27 in Block No. 2 of the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $200.00 I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of convevance to said cemetery lot. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). File contract Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between King 'aoodall Eng. Truck I, the City of Paducah and King -Woodall Motors, Inc. for sale to the City of One new 1963 Ford Pick -Up Truck, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Settle claim lir Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the claim of Mrs. Alice 'Watson (1202 Salem Pars. Alice llaflson Avenue) against the City of Paducah, Kentucky, in the sum of ti561.75, for injuries received by her on or about October 9, 1962, by reason of an alleged defective sidewalk near 12th Street and Salem Avenue in Paducah, Kentucky, be allowed, and that the Treasur( File contract King Woodall, 3 trucks Settlement Sewer and Refuse Oct 1962 pay said claim after secucing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Payor Cherry (5). Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the executed copy of the contract between /the City of Paducah and Kin,r-Woodall Motors, Inc., for sale to the City of Three (3) new 1963 Ford trucks, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO. ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) NEW 1963 3, PICK-UP TRUCKS FOR USE BY THE PARKS, PLAYGROUND AND RECREATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF .PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that a Resolution entitled: °A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR ALTERATIONS TO THE BATHHOUSE AT NOBLE PARK IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND MANNER IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley,, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH SUNRAY D -X OIL COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF ALL REGULAR AND ETHYL GASOLINE, 140TOR OIL, DIESEL FUEL, CHASSIS LUBRICANT, GEAR LUBE OIL, HYDRAULIC OIL, KEROSENE AND ANTI-FREESE FOR USE BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME FROM JANUARY 1, 1963 TO JUNE 30 , 1963, AND PRESCRIBING THE TEP34S AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MAKE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5)• Commissioner Karnes offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH-McCRACKEN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION RESPECTIV THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 9-V, SECTION 22-A-4, SECTION 22-A-5 AND SECTION 24-A-3 OF THE PADUCAH ZONING ORDINANCE - 1961, AND AMENDING SAID SECTIONS", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes �nd Mayor Cherry (5)• I4ayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING ALL THAT PORTION OF MORGAN STREET BETWEEN GOODMAN STREET AND FAIRMONT STREET", be adopted.
