Dept. truck v At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commissibn Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 5:20 P.M. on November 5, 1962, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of.the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes.and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Statement of Called Meeting for November 5, 1962, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). h Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: It appears from a letter dated November 5, 1962, filed by the Commissioners of plater Works that they recommend the installation of water mains to provide a better water supply and fire protection to property located along the south Beltline Highway from Olive Street to the end of the existing main at the east end of the Island Creek Bridge. I, therefore, move that the letter of the Commissioners of Water Works be receiv and filed and that the Paducah Water 'Works, through its Board of Commissioners, be authorized to install water mains and hydrants as follows: "An eight inch cast iron water main along Olive Street from Murray Street to the Beltline Highway and eastward along the Beltline Highway from Olive Street to the.eastern end of Island Creek Bridge to the end of the existing eight inch water main, a total distance of approximately 1,$50 feet, and four fire hydrants to be installed at normal spacing along this eight inch water line." I further move that the adoption of this resolution be considered as an agreement) on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the fire and main rental, as provided in the franchise, on the pipe lines and fire hydrants referred to in the letter of the Commissao - ers of Water Works, said rentals to begin when said mains and fire hydrants have been installed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, K rhes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion as follows: I move that the petition signed by Wayne Harris and others requesting street lights between 24th and 27th Streets on LaClede Avenue, be received and filed. I further move that the City Manager request Paducah Power System to install a street light at 25th & LaClede Avenue and also at 26th & LaClede Avenue.Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry 51. Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the following bids on a truck for the Engineering Department be received and filed: King -Woodall Motors, Inc. Twelfth Street Garage, Inc. West Kentucky Motor Company, Inc. Taylor -Milson Chevrolet -Cadillac, Inc. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Edgar Hoover, Direct J Edgar Hoover Keigh Yancy of Federal Bureau of Investigation, dated October 31, 1962, to Mayor Cherry concerning the successful completion of the FBI course of training by Lt. Col. Albert Keith Yancy, ( be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Settlement ; Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water Works Sewer & Refus Sept, 1962 be received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasure to be deposited in the proper accounts: Refuse collections for September, 1962 $8,710.55 Sewer Service Charges for September, 1962 8,803.50 I Bad Refuse accounts collected during September 17.20 I Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and / Mayor Cherry (5). Robert E. V Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Dossett chang' to Laborer i Ray Kayse, Director of Public Works, I move that Robert E. Dossett, a Sewer Maintenance Man in the Street Division, be changed to the position of Laborer ire the Street Division, retroactive to November 1, 1962; such employment being under Civil Service. File contractil, Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract for Burns & McDonnell \ Engineering Services between the City and Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, dated sewers i October 27, 1962, be received and filed. Patrick A Grant Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: It appearing from the report of appointed fireman Ed Turner, Fire Chief, that Patrick A. Grant, an Applicant -Candidate in the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, has satisfactorily completed the 60 day training period as such Applicant -Candidate as provided by ordinance; I now therefore move Police Dept Report Oct. Increase pla. expenditure Fire Station irport Pro iscal Cour Resolution that the said Patrick A. Grant be, and he is hereby, appointed a fireman in the Fire Department, at a salary of $280.00 per month, effective November 6, at 6:40 A.M. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the report of the Police Department for the month of October, 1962, be received and filed. Commissioner Fendley offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR INCREASE IN PLANNED TOTAL EXPENDITURE FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the attested copy of a Resolution adopted by the McCracken County Fiscal Court relative to the application of Paducah Airport Corporation for a grant for the purpose of aiding in financing the construction of a hangar building on Barkley Field, be received and filed.
