Plant Board Est Rates & Cha Terminate ees Sell grave Rushing Add Alvin Travis At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 18, 1962, Mgyor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names, Commissioners Fendley, Cholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mavor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on September 18, 1962, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5) Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the petition signed by John C. Jones and others requesting that a street light be placed at the corner of 22nd and Adams Street, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the following bids for resurfacing various streets in the City of Paducah, be received and filed: W. H. Yancy West Kentucky Asphalt Paving Company Middle West Roads Company Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: It appearing from the report of Ed Turner, Fire Chief, that Freddie L. Cooper, an Applicant -Candidate in the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, has satisfactorily completed the 60 day training period as such Applicant -Candidate as provided by ordinance, I now therefore move that the said Freddie L. Cooper be and he is hereby appointed a fireman in the Fire Department, at a salary of x;280.00 per month, effective immediately. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion that an attested copy of a Resolution adopte by the Electric Plant Board of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, on September 12, 1962, relative to rates under RS -1 Residential Service, and GS -1 General Service, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion as follows: Upon recommendation of Hubert Grimmer, Park Superintendent, I move that the following temporary employees be terminate effective September 15, 1962: Robert A. Ruoff Mike Stewart Robert Lough John R. Hornsby J. L. Sinquefield III Hell Tucker Ronnie Harris Barbara McKinney Don M. English Harlan T. Bradford Daniel Jackson Mary G. Center Ronnie Hymarsh Isaac C. Reid Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Alvin Travis of the northwest corner of Lot No. 315 in Block Milo. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Yancy Resurface Sts Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the resignation of William J. Wilkins, a mechanic helper in the Street Division of the City of Paducah, effective September c, 1962, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Poll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5)• I.-.ayor Cherry offered motion as follows: Upon recommendation of the Police Depart- s ment, I move that the City T':anager authorize the Paducah Power System to install a street light at the corner of 22nd Street and Adams Street. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5)• Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Report of the Grand Jury concerning the condition of the City Jail, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Cholson,.Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). / Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TBAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE TO THE CIVIC BEAUTIFICATION BOARD FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, A LEASE ON CERTAIN SPACE WITHIN THE 14ARY.ET HOUSE BUILDING AT SECOND STREET AND BROAMMY IN SAID CITY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, CommissionersFendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5)• Commissioner Karnes offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AAI ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT INITH W. H. YANCY FOR THE RESURFACING OF VARIOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND. MONUMENTS, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERAS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) meek for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
