Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 11, 1962, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mavor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for August 28, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas. Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). ZCommissioner Fendley offered motion that the petition signed by J. M. Carrico and others requesting that a street light be placed on the light pole between 3023 and 3017 Georgia Street, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby,'Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner•Gholson offered motion that the petition of Lee Hayes and his wife, Mildred Hayes, for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to an existing 6 inch water main owned by the Paducah [later {forks so as to furnish water to one residence only on Lot No. 1, in Block "B" of Farley Village Sub -division fronting; 116 feet on Alpha Drive in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed, and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the petition signed by Robert Kreutzer and others requesting that the City excavate and gravel approximately 165 feet of alley in the 700 block on Thompson Avenue, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). jCommissioner Karnes offered motion that the petition signed by Melvin Stayner and others requesting improvement of the alley behond Haws Grocery, between 27th and 28th Streets, Crest of the Old Mayfield }toad, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the letter of T. A Bradley, City Enpineer, recommending that Earl I.I. Brown, a Chainman in the Engineering Department be placed under civil service, be received and filed, and based upon such recommendation, I now therefore move that the said Earl Id. Brown be placed under civil service of the City of Paducah, as a Chainman in the Engineering Department, effective September 16, 1962. Commissioner Gholson offered motion as follows: Upon recommendation of the Police Department, I move that the City Manager authorize the Paducah Power System to install a street light neat 3023 Georgia Street. Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Art Seelye, Recreation Director, I move that Pearl B. Rutledge be employed as Tap and Ballet supervisor in the Recreation Department of the City of Paducah, retroactive to September 1, 1962, at a salary of $250.00 per month. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the claim of David Clark(1547 Park Avenue in the amount of $65.90 for damages to his motor vehicle on August 6, 1962, by reason of an alleged defective street condition at 14th and Park Avenue be allowed, and that the Treasurer pay said claim after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call If the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5)• Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: It appearing from a memorandum from Ray Hayse, Director of Public 'forks, that all permits issued to former G & H Plumbin. & Heating Company under permit bond No. SY-161279 in the Employers Group of Insurance Company have been approved to May 16, 1962, and that said bond expired on September 11, 1960, I now therefore move that said bond be released. Liability Insjl Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, Cooper Plb & Heating Co. approve and file liability insurance policy issued by National Union Fire Insurance Access Doors Sidewalk 303 Broadwaj Company to Elvin L. 600per d/b/a Cooper Plumbing & Heating Company for a period of one year from August 1, 1962. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5)• / Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: I move that the blueprint of a sidewalk double access door for Greenberg Mercantile Corporation to be installed in front of its property at 303 Broadway in Paducah, Kentucky, and approved by T. A. Bradley, City Engineer, be received and filed. I further move that the request from C. E. Upon failure of Greenberg mercantile Corporation to keep such insurance in effect or to keep said equipment in good repair, the permission granted herein may be revoked by action of the Board of Commissioners. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Favor Cherry (5) Commissioner Hornsbu offered the following motion: On July 2L, 1962, this body adopted an ordinance entitled "AN ORDIIIAIICE APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH- McCRACKEN COUNTY PLANNING CO',94ISSION RESPECTING THE AMIIDMENT OF SECTION ll OF THE PADUCAH ZONING ORDINANCE - 1961, AND AMENDING SAID SECTION^', and it has since been discovered that there is a draftsman's error on the City of Paducah - Zone I:ap referred to therein, in that the south boundary of the Cardinal Point Neighborhood Development Unit is shown as the center line of LaClede Avenue, rather than the line established by Resolution of the Paducah -McCracken County Planning Commission and the Paducah Board of Adjustment on November 19, 1958. 1 therefore move that the error be corrected, this action being in conformity with similar action taken by the said Paducah -McCracken County Planning Commission under date of August 15, 1962, evidence of which has been certified to this body. Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and West Kentucky Equipment Company for the sale to the City of One new J. I. Case Combination Backhoe and End Luader, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Art Seel Recreation Director, I move that Joyce Ann Green be employed as Recreation Supervisor, effective September 17, 1962, at a salary of $1.50 per hour. Such employment is temporar and no civil service rights or other rights under any law of ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Terminate Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Ray Kayse, Archie W. Little -Lab. u Director of Public Works, I move that the services of Archie W. Little, a temporary St. Div u laborer in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, be terminated as of September 1, 1962.
