Rothrock Fire Dept employment continued At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on August 28, 1962, Mayor Pro Tem Gholson presided in the absence of Mayor Cherry, and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4), Mayor Cherry being absent (1) Mayor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for July 24, August 13 and August 21, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, / Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: I move that the petition n signed by residents in the vicinity of 31st and Monroe Streets, requesting street lights at 31st & Monroe Streets and 31st and Jefferson Streets, be received and filed. Since the report of the police department shows the need for these lights, I move that the City Manager authorize the Paducah Power System to install street lights at the above locations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Playor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: I move that Paducah Junior / Collece, a tax supported municipal college situated in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be and it is hereby authorized to accept tax support from a Municipal College Support District of McCracken County, Kentucky, and that the Fiscal Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, as the Governing Body of the District, be authorized to appoint three (3) members of the College Board of Trustees as provided for by Chapter 165 of Kentucky Revised Statutes. I further move that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, directed to forward a certified copy of this motion to the Clerk of the Fiscal Court of McCracken County, Kentucky. Adopted on call of the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of 1.1. L. Rutter, City Treasurer, I move that Lyn Reynerson be employed as Clerk -Stenograph, er, in the Finance Department, at a salary of '$240.00 per month, effective September 4, 1962. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under anv law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Pendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). / Commissioner Karnes offered motion that this Board receive, approve and file / Liability Insurance issued by Security Insurance Company of New Haven to C. E. Young an Louis Goin dba Young & Goin Plumbing & Heating Company for a period of one year from 'ay 5, 1962, also Bond of the said Young & Goin Plumbing & Heating Company in the amount of $$1000, dated August 8, 1962. Adopted on call of the Roll -Yeas, Commission- ers Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Turner,- I move that this Board declare that a continuation of such employment will be for the best interest of the City, and that such employment be continued until mid -night on the 28th day of February, 1963, unless terminated prior to such time by operation of lava. I further move that said letters be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Miayor Pro Tem Cholson (4). Mayor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Ohio Valley Supply Company, for the sale to the City of 1000 feet of 21 -inch fire hose, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Mayor Pro Tem Gholson offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of the Police Department, I move that the City Manager authorize the Paducah Power System to install a street light on Gregory Avenue between 36th Street and 38th Street. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and I.layor Pro Tem Gholson Miayor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that the resignation of Carol 1.1adeking, Clerk -stenographer in the Finance Department of the City of Paducah, effective September 8, 1962, be received,'accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH MUNICIFAI HOUSING COMMISSION AND THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION is AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR RESURFACIIIG VARIOUS STREETS IMf THE CITY OF PADUCAH, INCLUDING THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). / Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, TO ENTER INTO A COMITRACT '.'LITH BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH OF McCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, FOR PERMISSION TO CONNE TO THE SEWER SYSTEM OF THE CITY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS, COVENANTS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH CONTRACT", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN. ORDINANCE .s SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY ON THE REGULAR ELECTION DAY ON NOVEMBER 6, 1962, THE QUESTION OF INCREASING THE ANNUAL LEVY OF TAXES FOR SUPPORT OF PADUCAH JUNIOR COLLEGE FROM, A MAXIMUM OF SEVEN (7$) CENTS TO A I•IAXII•:UMi OF FOURTEEN (14$) CENTS ON EACH ONE HUNDRED (w100.00) DOLLARS WORTH OF PROPERTY SUBJECT TO TAXATION FOR CITY PURPOSES", be adopted. ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHING OF THE GRADE OF PROPOSED HIGHWAY PROJECT, DESIGNATING THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AS AGENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND CONVEYING CERTAIN STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY TO THE COM-IOIRTEALTH; AND THE ASSUMPTION OF CERTAIN LIABILITIES BY THE CITY", be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one (1) week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that Patrick A. Grant be employed as an Applicant -Candidate for employment as a Fireman in the Fire Department of the City at a salary of $270.00 per month, effective September 1, 1962, provided by such time he furnishes, at his expense, a satisfactory medical report as to his pnysical condition, including an.electrocardiogram. This employment is made under the provisions of an ordinance providing for such employment adopted April 27, 1962 by the Board of Commissioners, and is subject to all terms, conditions and provisions contained therein. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that James 0. Farrow be employed as an Applicai Candidate for employment as a Fireman in the Fire Department of the City at a salary of $270.00 per month, effective September 2, 1962, provided by such time he furnishes, at his expense, a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an Electrocardiogram. This employment is made under the provisions of an ordinance providing for such employment adopted April 27, 1962 by the Board of Commissioners, and is subject to all terms, conditions and provisions contained therein.
