Littl St. Division At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of City Hall, PaducEh , Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on July 25, 1962, Mayor Cherry presided upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, , Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Karnes being absent. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for July 10 and July 17, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby an Mayor Cherry (4)• Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the petition of Van D. Fiser and his wife, Blance R. Fiser for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to an existing 6 inch water (main owned by the Paducah hater Works so as to furnish water to one residence on Lot No. 1 in Block "A" of Farley Village Subdivision fronting 141.92 feet on Alpha Drive in McCrackei iCounty, Kentucky, and outside the Corporate Limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be !received and filed, and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Riley is the owner of property located on the east side of Pines Road and extending 263` south from the inter- section of Friedman Lane in the City of Paducah, and said owner desires that an extension of the existing water main be made so as to provide water service to the property above preferred to. It appears from the endorsement by the Board of Commissioners of Plater Works that th "applicant has complied with all rules and regulations of said Paducah Water I•lorks as I�approved by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah. I therefore move that ,,the application of Arthur L. Riley be accepted and approved and that the Board of Commissioners of the Paducah plater Works be authorized to execute the agreement for the laying of said extension and that the Board of Commissioners of Paducah Water ';forks be authorized to install an eight inch main along Pines Road, beginning at the end of the existing main at the intersection of Pines Road and Friedman Lane and extending in a southerly direction to the south property line of the Arthut L. Riley property, a distance of approximately 293 feet, 80 feet of which is street intersections. I further move that the adoption of this resolution and the granting of the request contained in said application be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of Paducah to pay fire hydrant and water main rental, as provided in the franchise, on the pipe line referred to in the petition and in this motion, Said rental to begin when said water main has been installed and water provided for on the street above referred to. Commissioner Fendlev offered the following motion: I move that the following named s be, and they are hereby, employed as laborers in the Street Division of the Public Department, retroactive to July 23, 1962, at a salary of $1.32k per hour: James J. Allen James Blair, Jr. Archie 11. Little Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. No 1.1 L_ Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah July 24, 1962 Settlement / Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water 'Works Refuse & d Sewer June be received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City 1962 Treasurer to be deposited in the proper accounts: Refuse collections for June, 1962 $9,581.00 Sewer Service Charges for June 1962 9,742.00 Bad refuse accounts collected during June 14.60 Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and i`.ayor Cherry (4). Sell grave % Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the Rushing Add Hodge Funera sale by the City of Paducah to Hodge Funeral Home, Murray, Kentucky of the northeast Home � corner of Lot No. 29 in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Employ 'dm. T. Commissioner Fendley offered motion that !'William T. Schaeffer be employed as a Schaeffer policeman policeman in the Police Department of the City of Paducah at a beginning salary of $280.00 per month, effective August 1, 1962 at 8:30 o'clock P.M., provided that by such time he furnishes at his ovm expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardiogram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Employ 'Wm. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that :'William Paul Keeling be employed as a Paul Keeling policeman policeman in the Police Department of the City of Paducah at a beginning salary of $280.00 per month, effective August 1, 1962 at 12:30 o'clock P.M., provided that by such time he furnishes at his own expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardiogram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor `'herry (4). Employ Charlles Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Ray Bundren It, Laborer I Kayse, Director of Public Works, I move that Charles Bundren be employed as a laborer St. Division � in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, effective July 24, 19b2, at a salary of $1.32§ per hour. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. File motion Commissioner Gholson offered motion that this Board receive and file copy of a f Planning Co regarding /motion passed by the Paducah -McCracken County Planning Commission on July 18, 1962, closing t portion of recommending the closing of a portion of Caldwell Street, along its northerly boundary, Caldwell St. west of 5th Street, in consideration of the dedication of a comparable area for the widening of Caldwell Street along its southerly boundary. Fesmire,Jr Policeman policeman in the Police Department of the City of Paducah at a beginning salary of $280.00 per month, effective August 1, 1962 at 4:30 o'clock A.M., provided that by such time he furnishes at his own expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardiogram. I� Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Hipkiss Maint. Service Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Charles E. Hipkiss d/b/a Hipkiss Maintenance Service and the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period of one year from July 16, 1962, be received, approved and filed. Owen, a temporary laborer in the Street C. Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF OHIO VALLEY SUPPLY COMPANY FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF 1000 FEET OF 2J -INCH FIRE HOSE, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAME, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF MELVIN RIVES FOR MOVING OF THE FLOODWALL-CIVIL DEFENSE BUILDING AT CLEMENTS AND MEYERS STREETS IPI THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT", be adopted.
