At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 5:00 P.M. on April 27, 1962, Mayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll, the following answered to their names:
Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Called
Meeting to be held at 5:00 P.M. on April 27, 1962, be received and filed. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and
Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water Works be
received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasurer
to be deposited in the proper accounts:
Refuse collections for March, 1962 $10,363.35
Sewer Service Charges for March, 1962 10,431.30
Bad Refuse accounts collected during March, 1962 20.$0
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes
and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING AND SCREENING OF PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS OF THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; ESTABLISHING QUALIFICATIONS OF
SUCH PERSONS; PROVIDING FOR THE PROMULGATION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS @LITH RESPECT
THERETO; FIXING THE COMPENSATION TO BE PAID TO SUCH PERSONS DURING THE PERIOD
THEY ARE SUBJECT TO THE TERMS HEREOF AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsbym Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion:

I move that Donald Lee Sills be employed as an Applicant -Candidate for employment
as a Fireman in the Fire Department of the City at a salary of x;270.00 per month,
effective May 1, 1962, provided by such time he furnishes, at his expense, a
satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electro-
cardiogram.
This employment is made under the provisions of an ordinance providing for
such employment adopted April 27, 1962 by the Board of Commissioners, and is subject
to all terms, conditions and provisions contained therein. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion:
I move that Charles McGregor be employed as an Applicant -Candidate for employment
as a Fireman in the Fire Department of the City at a salary of $270.00 per month,
effective i=;ay 1, 1962, provided by such time he furnishes, at his expense, a satis-
factory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardiogram.
This employment is made under the provisions of an ordinance providing for such
employment adopted April 27, 1962 by the Board of Commissioners, and is subject to all
terms, conditions and provisions contained therein. Adopted or. call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).

Merritt Allei Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion:
