McCa John Crider and appoint J.E.Thurman Approve appo ments Cemete Advisory Bro R.A.Johnson request continuance employment Chas F Cham Request Continuance employment At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 1:30 P.M. on March 21, 1962, Mayor Cherry presid and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Karnes being absent (1) Mayor Cherry offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 1:30 P.M. on March 21, 1962, be received and filed. Adopted on c of the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). t-iayor Cherry made the following appointment: Subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, I hereby reappoint Dr. Clyde Peel, Jr. as a member of the Paducah Golf for a term expiring March 26, 1966, so that said board as now constituted shall be compo of the following members: Jack Allison whose term expires March 26, 1963 Frank R. Paxton whose term expires March 26, 1964 Harry B. Ford, Jr. whose term expires March 26, 1965 Harry Bolser whose term expires March 26, 1966 Dr. Clyde Peel, Jr. whose term expires March 26, 1966 Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the action of Robert C. Cherry, Mayor, reappointing Dr. Clyde Peel, Jr. as a member of the Paducah Golf Commission. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Mayor Cherry made the following appointments: Subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, I hereby reappoint Mrs. Gus Hank, Mr. George Rock and Mrs. Miller McCann, as members of the Cemetery Advisory Board, for a term of two (2) years, expiring June 28, 1963; and also appoint Mr. Jess E. Thurman and reappoint Mr. John Crider as members of said board for a term of three (3) years, expiring on June 28, 1964. - / Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the action of Robert C. Cherry, Mayor, in making the following appointments to the Cemetery Advisory Board, making said Board as now constituted as follows: Mrs. Gus Hank whose term expires June 28, 1963 Mr. George Rock whose term expires June 28, 1963 Mrs. Miller McCann whose term expires June 28, 1963 Mr. John W. Crider, whose term expires June 28, 1964 Mr. Jess E. Thurman whose term expires June 28, 1964 Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter of R.A.Johnson, a Sergeant in the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, dated March 19, 1962, requesting a continuance of his employment as such, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter of Charles F. Champion, a Capta' in the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, dated ;-larch 16, 1962, requestii a continuance of his employment as such, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Proceedings of Board of Commissioners Cify of Paducah March 21, 1962 Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the letter of L.B.Mason, Assistant Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, dated I -larch 17, 1962, requesting a continuance of his employment as such, and a letter of Ed Turner, Fire Chief, recommend- ing such continuance, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the resignation of Norman Keith Cope, as operator in the Floodwall Department, effective March 19, 1962, at 4 P.M. be received, filed and accepted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and I•iayor Cherry (4). / Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the letter of G. L. Barber, a Captain in the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, dated March 17, 1962, requesting that his employment as such be continued until September 1, 1962, and also the letter of Ed Turner, Fire Chief, recommending such continuance, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the letter of Tilghman Tade, Chief of Detectives in the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, dated March 15, 196?, requesting a continuance of his employment as such, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to T. J. Rutter of the north east corner of Lot No. 27 in Block No. 8 of the hushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4). eY✓ Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter dated I -larch 14, 1962 from Mrs. Hugh /Crouse relative to the efficiency and courtesy of the Police Department, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor cherry (4). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter from Fire Fighters Local #168 relativ to compulsory retirement of members of the police and fire departments, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (4).
